CAT II A or B??? There's a difference in them...
If its CAT II B then folks there will be no fog delays next year when you fly any airline or maybe even this year
now every airline's gonna do it

Well hasn't Indigo done it before the likes of 9W and S2. If yes more power to them.

Btw anyone with any knowledge on their traffic share and load?

Dad noticed good loads from BOM on their flights...
Also personally i feel IndiGo can do well with their strategy but at the current cost of ATF, employee pay and fare war its difficult to earn those profits which could have been possible

With HO in DEL.Makes sense to have few crews CAT III trained.

Article in Business Standard says how Poaching of pilots is helping in Cat Operations. Most are ex-IA, which makes it easier.
Also the expat pilot population, esp from countries affected by snow and rain are making life simpler.

Personally i feel things will change soon as IndiGo will announce these things in their coming ads and news articles on them. Naturally other private carriers will be eventually forced to prepare their pilots for III B

Not a lot of people really take those very early morning flights before 6 am. I did DEL-BLR early morning in Jan on DN and the flight was almost empty. So I doubt the fog actually affects that many domestic passengers.

Although if delays are caused throughout the day as a chain of events due to the first flight being delayed, then perhaps its good

Fog delays are right from morning 5.30-6.00 to 10.30-11 and this happens to be the peak hours of travel into DEL. Considering this fact CAT IIIB is essential.
Besides as Mel said low fares+no fog delays for IndiGo might get them better loads

For us its between 2200hrs to 0300 which has detaled Fog plan action.Fog i strikes normally clears post 2300hrs.Not considering Start up delays ex Bom & landing traffic at Del.

Somebody else's delay is somebody else's early arrival in these days of fog at DEL. the LOH was to fly PNQ-DEL on the 1st and was booked on 9W, but she got free earlier so made it to Lohegaon at around 1515, to learn that 6E's flight BLR-PNQ-DEL was about 4 hours behind schedule, at 1600. Bought a ticket at almost the same price (5174.oo on Indigo vs 4950.oo on Jet) and boarded, reached DEL at 1800 without any in-air hovering or congestion.

Things have been chaotic since for flights to/from DEL, as we all know, but good on Indigo for this one!!

Has anyone flown in indigo???

Was reading the latest issue of OT wen i came across their advertisement. It appears that even they also have introducted roving agents as being publicised by Jet & Kingfisher.

Plus another novelty which they seem to be talking about is Indigo gizmo

Its nothing but a step less stair which they claim cuts boarding time by 50%. Its more like a z reversing pathway similar to what we find in DHR for gaining height.

so anyone seen this gizmo or has pics of the same.

Seen a Stepladder in a Z shape at BOM.Looks weird & I did not notice the mechanism though.
Takes a lot of space.

Wow - thanks for that picture Himmat. I guess this is really convenient for wheel chair pax, as they can be wheeled all the way up/down, and there's no need for an ambulift?

1. is the step ladder just one of a kind or is it going to be the norm now??
2. Sky chef van? Does indigo, being an LCC, provide free meals on it's flights?

Normally catering vehicles are used. Also there must be stairs and not smooth surface...so no special advantage for wheel chair passengers.

All i can think of is that :-
1.somehow these sidesteps are some kind of collapse able types so that they can be easily stored when not in use.
2. It may be that these are someking of special sidesteps in which we can raise or lower the height so that it can be used for different aircraft types.

Still doesn't make sense to me.

but don't they have only one type of aircraft?

I guess using of these gizmo,s are nt the part of standard operating procedures becoz avijeet,s pic also shows that they are using conventional ladders also. Just wondering hw many gizmo,s do they have ?? And is it that only when some wheelchair bound person has to board these flights that the gizmo is attached

Vabby - someone mentioned that the gizmo has stairs, and hence is not suitable for wheelchairs (which was my impression based on looking at the structure).

In Chennai, its a modified cargo hilift.

The same contraption was used for former PM Vajpayee.

Indian and 9W use the wheelchair till the tarmac. Then the cargo handlers manually lift the handicapped person in the wheelchair up the regular passenger stairway. If its an aerobridge, you are wheeled in till the door.
Once inside they "manually adjust you into your seat again", and preferably near the aisle and the toilet.

In Air India, the handicapped get preference of seating in J. Air India also uses the Indian and Jet way of transferring a passenger.

There are stairs....its not flat else it would be too steep to climb especially for elders

Guys,
About a month back i travelled from DEl-GAU and back. While comin back i took this pics of Indigo in DEL on my Nokia 6630. I transferred it today to my PC and guess what!!! The same step ladder is in use in DEL also.Exclamation
Sorry for the quality as taken inside a spicejet bus and with a cell phone.
