I would like to know whats the latest on Indian/Air India service from BLR-SIN.
I assume they're flying A320s, but any news if they use IFE on their international sectors ?
Given the hodgepodge fleet mix they have , is there any consistency in the overall service to the customer ?
Are BLR-SIN flights on time, for example ?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

gues u're on IC 957/958.

standard IC flights, better crew & service than domestic flights, flights now usually on time after a dismal summer 2007 with average delays of upto 2 hours most of the week.

the crowd is more O/D, lowfare & largely a spillover from the overbooked SQ flights that leave an hour before.

dirty, wornout a 320s. the only amenity i find on an IC plane is the first aid box & bulky emergency kits. expect the cheap candy, frooti & underrated cotton buds that IC has been circulating since the early 80s. IC deploys the plane that has already done the BOM-AMD-BOM-BLR run on this sector; not surprising if u find leftovers in the stack in front.

dont get bewildered if u find male stewards with extra huge pot bellies (like in AI).

all said, the fights have been full & u get decent food atleast on the morning returns from SIN.

I've flown on this sector a couple of times (few years ago), and found the service levels on board to be decent, but the a/c itself to be a real "khatara". The crew were quite liberal with the booze, and quite decent on the service standards. However the crew seemed to lack the "polish" that you'd find on other carriers like SQ or 9W.

If you're interested, here's a link to a TR I wrote on this sector...

http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/64397/

I don't know if things have improved now, but those flights were totally empty.

Incidentally, it's ironic that your title says "Air India", because the only AI flight on BLR-SIN is the code share on SQ!! IC's daily flight still does not sport a AI flight number - courtesy the slow pace of integration!

I flew this years ago, it was pretty much as Nimish and Megatop described it.
One word of caution, on the SIN-BLR leg (if it’s still the morning departure) avoid the eggs for breakfast Shocked Not only did it taste like ahem, it smelt as bad!

Thanks for the feedback on IC on this route.

I did not have very high expecations of the equipment in any case for a 4 hour hop.

On another note, does IC provide through checkin to International sectors if you are flying in from another city in India ?

Why? Is it because the onward sector is an international one? Anything to do with customs ?

@ssbmat
When are you scheduled to fly?
