Hello, I`m new here, I live in Chile and I`m 16 years old and I don´t speak english very well so I apologise in advance for my mistakes.
In may, I`ll go with my father and my sister to north India, more precisely to Delhi, Agra, the Varanasi area, I know that it will be very hot but I’m also going to Dharamsala and Sikkim, so I wanted to know what`s the weather like in these zones. Will it be cold? Or rainy?? What kind of clothes should I wear??
thanks in advance |

hi.... well i dont have much good news for you.. in may.. delhi, agra and varanasi will be very very hot... its summer for us in may so its quite killing. Dharamsala and sikkim should be rather pleasant and not very hot because they are int he mountains.
other than that... i hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi,
Welcome to Ai.net. Dude Dharamshala will be stunning at that time. Also visit McLeod Ganj just next to Dharamshala, a few meters higher.
Plains as mentioned above will be very very hot, so make sure you have airconditioned accomodation, although most hotels are a'conditioned.
Oh yes and what is your routing to India?

Try visiting naddi its further few kms ahead of McLeodgang thats where the road terminates and ur standing bang parallel to the Dhauladhar range just divided by a gorge.
And incase you are missing your home food right in the main center of Mecleodgang u get terrific pasta and Lassagnia. Tibetean chinese food like thupka and momos though commonly available nw are also worth a try _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

Tanks for your replies!
Yeah, I imagined it would be very hot, but we are going in that period because I have holidays in May and because January and February are too cold for going to the mountains.
About my route, I`ll do Santiago- Sao Paulo with lan and then Sao Paulo- Milan-Delhi with Alitalia. My father will go with American via Chicago. Both routes are very long and I think via the Pacific is shorter but it's much more expensive.
Tanks also for your advices about dharamsala! And yes, we have plans to go to McLeod Ganj....my brother also recommended to go there..maybe because he "lived" there 6 months He also talked to us about the pasta

Welcome to India and enjoy your flights and trip here. Curious to know the background - is this just on vacation or part of school/work? Are there a lot of Chilean folks looking to visit India? |

Thanks!
Yes, I`m going to India on vacation for around 4 weeks. But the main reason is because my father is buddhist so he likes going there.
In general for Chileans is not very common going to India. In fact when I went to India last year, many of my friends were like woww!
But I think that there are more and more that are interested in visiting India; when I was in Bombay, I meet many Chileans in the streets, one of them a famous journalist here in Chile |

Good to see Chileans visiting India. I'd like to visit Chile, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia someday.
I dont think GOI does a lot to promote India as a tourist destination in South America. They would definitely get a few tourist from there esp now with EK starting their DXB-GRU non stop.
Whats the Indian population like in South America?

Yeaah, you should come to Chile one day, it’s a beautiful country with a wide variety of landscapes, even though it seems that southern Chile is very similar to New Zealand.
I think that there are not many Indians living in South America, at least not in Chile. I imagine that maybe in Brazil there are more.
But it's noticeable the amount of Indians, and Asians in generally, that have arrived to Chile these past years. |

You should get a copy of the Lonely Planet guide to India (or perhaps Rough Guide). Lonely Planet may have a Spanish edition. |
