it doesnt look like it was the pilot who was instructing the repair person.. cant tell too well from the video.. but incase its the epaulets that misleads you.. do keep in mind even Aircraft Technicians and Ground Ops personnel do wear epaulets albeit slightly different from pilots.. (usually they are not as wide as pilots stripes.. in some cases they have combination of wide and narrow stripes to indicate rank apart from the number of stripes to indicate rank)

also its not duct tape as lay persons may interpret it.. rather its a special kind of tape which is certified for use in minor repairs on parts for flight. Smile

just FYI Very Happy

yes... its also referred to as "speed tape" referring to its ability to stay adhered at very high speeds.. the exact composition of which i do not know but there are materials (polyesters) i think of which it is made and which the FAA has certified.. their strength of adhesion is really remarkable.. suiteable to cover certain minor areas where an overhaul is not immediately required and where there is no threat to the safe operation of the aircraft..

if im not mistaken there are specific lists of uses to which these tapes can be used on aircrafts..

i guess the ideal person for this is Mel.

The Personnell are all from Mx & not Flt ops.
Even Engineering wear Eupallets,Four stripes for AMEs.
The Pic is not very clear, but looks like its an application of High Speed Tape to the LE of the TE Aft flap.
HST is normally used to cover small dents that are not aerodynamic as a temp repair only.

I knew that it was unlikely it was the flight crew carrying out these repairs, just thought it was interesting and decided to link it especially after I realized it could be from India.

I thought who better to comment on it than our desis.

Eupallets are cool, there are some that are not in a uniform from what it seems.

I just thought some of the comments left on Break.com were pretty funny (uninformed/ignorant etc).

BTW, duct tape is sometimes refered to as "Speed Tape" here by some "red necks", especially at the local drag strip where duct tape is commonly used to cover hideous gaps or quickfix damage on old clunker drag cars.

and for those of us who arent familair with the old joke, duct tape is usually referred to here in the US as the fix-it-all for rednecks.

Those with no uniform ie in Civil wear could be Managers.

Is this an AD aircraft. The trestle colour looks similiar.

Thanks. But i understand tht internationally when you are on the tarmac, you should be seen in one of these colours.

The colours are Reflective in the day & the borders reflect light at night. The idea is to get noticed in a dark area on the tarmac.
