Well it might sound wierd but it all started when i had my first flight ever 7 yrs ago and that too an international flight. The whole idea from start was simply fascinating the take off roll, the landing, the announcements. It felt really good.after that i got more curious about aviation, airliners and airlines. I used to plead with my dad to take me to the jumbo point at IGI but then there were problems with the delhi cops not allowing u to stand. SO the thing continued. At one point I wanted to become a pilot but my parents wanted me to do engg plus I got a good scholarship to support my edu in uk so i opted for it but i enjoy it. _________________ Lets Soar High....Feel the ultimate Joy |

Hello Aleksandar. Look forward to hear some Serbian updates from you. |
I'll be glad to bring all the updates, but there are not many at the moment. The main news is that JAT is going to privatized. Serbian Government even uses Rotschild consultancy in that process. |

Hello Aleksandar, warm welcome to the forum and thank you for your compliments about me in the Aviation Photography Topic, I do appreciate it.
My friend, i'm just pleasently curious to know asto what brings you here onto AI-IND.net despite there being virtually numerous number of Aviation Forums out there, as in this being a primarily Indian Aviation discussion forum.
Am i right in assuming that it may be because of the huge scores of my countrymen coming over there in Serbia for their CPL's ??
Has that in anyway generated an inquisitive interest in Indian Aviation in you ?
Cheers - Vishal |

This is a relayed message sent by Alexander,as he was unable to post on the thread directly due to a technical hitch..................
Hello Vishal,
Well, your photos are very interesting and I will often go back to see new stuff you posted.
Your question is quite interesting, but the answer is long. First, let me tell you that I'm fascinated by India. It started a long time ago, since I was a kid (similar story is about aviation, too). Back in early 1980s, every few months, there was some kind of Indian fair in Belgrade and they were popular especially among female population because traders would bring some very interesting and rather unusal clothes. Anyway, that clothes became a hit for few years. I remember going there with my mother and my late aunt. While they were looking for clothes, I was fascinating with scent of patchouli (wrong spelling, I'm absolutely sure), music, something very exotic.
In fact, India was quite popular in former Yugoslavia thanks to non-alignement movement and frequent visit of late Indira Gandhi. As far as I can remember, the last visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Belgrade was in 1989, when Rajiv Gandhi attended the Non-aligment summit in Belgrade. In fact, he was among two statesmen that were actually in command of the planes they came with. Mr. Gandhi in Air India 747 and King Hussein of Jordan in Tristar.
Another of interesting encounters with India was more about aviation. There was an Air India office in Belgrade and entering there was really like entering into a piece of India. Big Maharajah, Indian stuff (only two employees) and the atmosphere inside.
Now, India definitely has one of the most interesting aviation scenes in the world with its constant growth that is impressive. I've read some TRs on A.net and it seems that new airlines such as Jet Airways and Kingfisher also offer a very good product, too. Then, I also realized that I know very little about Indian aviation and this forum seems like an ideal place to feel that void in knowledge.
As for your question regarding your contrymen coming to Serbia to get , it is not a such a news, because Indian pilots were coming here for decades. There was even a girl who was in Serbia. I think she was actually from Sri Lanka. What seems important to me is the fact that Indian airlines would need lots of new pilots in the future and it is good to hear that they will be trained in Serbia.
JAT has Flight Academy in the city of Vrsac, north of Belgrade, in a picturesque area well-known for its wines. It is relatively big center, with small airport, campus and the prices are quite competitive when compared to the similar schools in the UK or the US. So, more Indian students there would be benefitial both for Serbia and India. I saw in some of your comments on MyAviation that you want to be a pilot, so, if you want, I can send you more info about that school.

Hey Aleksandar, Zdravo, kako si? pleased to hear your reply & love for most things Indian.
A little bit in response to your reply, as a kid i had this thing for History, Geography & World Cultures (and I still do)
One of my favorite pastime is Accents - American, British, Russian (the way Russians, Italians, Chinese & so on..... speak English) Sean will tell you
I used to collect all kinds of Stamps & Foreign Currency Notes & Coins (My first love)
Turns out Yugoslavian Stamps were quite rare back then while i was growing up (early 1990's) & so among my fellow Stamp lovers they were quite valued, whenever we all met every few weeks to go through each others' collections & exchange Stamps, among others a Yugolavian Stamp could be exchanged against 2 or possibly even 3 very flasy UK or American Stamps & so on............ Thats how i first came to know about your land & gradually it went from there on and highlighted even more so by the Yugoslav Wars, Kosovo, NATO Bombardment & Slobodan Milošević. I still remember my grandmother shedding a tear on watching images of the genocide on the News.
I'm very happy that your country is now free & doing well.
The Balkan land has also interested me in terms of its rich culture & heritage, infact most of the countries in the Russian Federation did & still do interest me a lot & are among my 'Places To Visit' list.
About Flight Schools in Serbia, i'll be more than glad to come there to fly as right now i am in communication with a flight school in the US where my close mates are & who often call me up DEMANDING that i come there immediately to fly with them
The only problem is that of FINANCE
So while i get that in order i am shortlisting places to fly at, and hopefully in a short while i should have something figured out.
I will PM you my number & we can take it from there.
Hvala Lepo, Dovid-Enja. Regards - Vishal |

Vishal,
You really surprised me with your knowledge of Serbian! It always amazes me how many people actually do know some Serbian words.
You're right, 90s were completely overshadowed by Milosevic's regime. In fact, I'm still suffering from that period
Speaking of stamps and Foreign Currency, there is something very popular among foreigners and that is bankonotes from the time of hyper-inflation. It is less known that in 1993 hit all time world record in inflation and notes were in billions with unbelievable number of zeros on them. Their value dropped from morning until noon and now many collectors are interested in them. I think I still have some of them somewhere in my flat, not because I collected them but simply because they lost their value before I could use them.
As for flying school, as far as I know they are significantly cheaper while offering the same as more expensive. I sent you link in private message so you can check it and compare it by yourself. Also, there is a very good photo gallery where you can actually see the place.
Pozdrav! |

I thought, its time to join the action and share thoughts with ALL the forum members about HOW We can help AIR INDIA in particular and all Indian AIRLINERS in general to leapfrog them above all these Middle East/European/Fareast/American carriers.
Great India and its people..YOU deserve MORE.
Coming to me, I am from INdia settled in ILLIANA( Illinois+Indiana) states. I am NOT into AIRLines as a profession, but passion is there to help our esteemed AI.
