No big deal,if its a training flt [B753].The #2 window is mechanically cranked & locked,same can be done during climb.The noise & air flow will be a give away.
The test probably involves the Window closing in flight.

Yes it is possible. My dad's friend MiG 29's canopy blew off at 29,000 feet. He had to lower his seat to prevent the blast of air from affecting him. He landed safely. Ofcourse he was still wearing his O2 mask and visor.

Wow, I never knew you could fly a jet fighter without its canopy, thanx for the answers guyz.
Shivendra any idea at what speed yur dad's friend was flying? Canopy blowing off at 29000ft, yikes its scary. _________________ HamiltonAir |

What caused the canopy to blow out.Any reason.

Well in the previous sortie, the canopy open lights were on throughout and the pilot reported the matter to maintainence for checks. The maintainence ppl did have a look at it and they somehow damaged the locks that hold the canopy. The locks gave way mid-flight. Sorry i do not know what speed he was in, most probably sub-sonic.
