China has doubled its fighter jets on India’s disputed northern border, according to American analysts.
As of July 28, China has 36 aircraft and helicopters at the Hotan air base in China’s Xinjiang region, near the disputed northeastern Indian territory of Ladakh, according to an estimate by the U.S. Air Force’s China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI). This includes 24 Russian-designed J-11 or J-16 Flanker fighters. In addition, there are now six older J-8 fighters, two Y-8G transports, two KJ-500 airborne early warning aircraft, two Mi-17 helicopters, plus a number of CH-4 strike/reconnaissance drones.

I understand your passion for the CCU-LHR flight, but BA had a flight with opportunity for numerous connections at LHR, yet they pulled it many years ago. If there is a traffic potential it will likely be BA.
AI has to rely primarily on O&D only on both ends. However this could be an opportunity for AI to test the nonstop flight. What is there to lose. Slots are now available at LHR, perhaps the best time for this flight. If it succeeds, BA might come back also, just like they have returned to Pakistan. |

Apron, runway and taxiway construction activities at Kolkata airport. Taxiway F extended to north side almost to 19L. Wall to wall service road on the east side of main runway complete which could be prelude to another set of parallel taxiway in the east reducing runway occupancy significantly. Extended taxiway F in the north passing very close to Jessore road and perimeter wall. Possibly AAI will have to reclaim more land in future in this area. More parking bay construction visible near cargo apron area, near south side hangar complex. New parking bay might come up on the wall to wall service road in the east side of main runway. AAI is refurbishing this old airport thoroughly.
Digital globe will publish their picture in low resolution, but one could get a good idea how construction activities are going on. Now Google has stopped updating airport pictures (why?) this is only way to go! _________________ Sabya99 |

Damage to United Boeing 777 engine consistent with metal fatigue: NTSB.
https://www.aol.com/news/damage-united-boeing-777-engine-040754692-102852387.html
The focus is more on engine maker Pratt and analysts expect little financial impact on Boeing, but the PW4000 issues are a fresh headache for the planemaker as it recovers from the far more serious 737 MAX crisis. Boeing's flagship narrowbody jet was grounded for nearly two years after two deadly crashes.
The United engine's fan blade will be examined on Tuesday after being flown to a Pratt laboratory where it will examined under supervision of NTSB investigators.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Monday it had already been evaluating whether to adjust fan blade inspections in the wake of the December incident in Japan after reviewing maintenance records and conducting a metallurgical examination of the fan blade fragment. _________________ Sabya99 |
