Hardly surprising. It is after all Canada and most of the VFR is near DEL. Traffic to BOM has limited VFR, some business, connection and general tourist traffic but still not enough to sustain the route.

The way the news article reads, it says that flights are suspended only for summer 2019, may it will be back in winter 2019.

AC are keeping BOM-YYZ as a seasonal winter only service (late October through March).

Samir-da: such a direct routing between two prominent cities? On a B789, which by now, is not that uncommon. This is hardly the type of routing/aircraft we hear from you. What is the world coming to? Razz
Cheers, Sumantra.

For US connections, it will help Air Canada, if they waive transit visa for Indian citizens, transiting through Canada. Although the transit visa is free, it is still a hassle and most Indian citizen travelers immediately avoid the airline, when they have other choices.

However AC flies to smaller cities in US and the only competition is United or Air India (connection with UA).

just checked that Indian citizen (non PR of Canada), even though Green Card holder of US, would need transit visa.

Sumantra, You got it right! I was not a happy camper while booking this flight but I got it quite cheap. 14 plus hours eastbound is still tolerable but I dread flight departing DEL say 2am and arriving YYZ at around 5am same day Crying or Very sad . Did couple of times, don't want to look back. Love the 77L though.
Eagerly waiting to try out the new BOM!

US green card holders of any nation do not need a transit visa. They also can enter Canada visa free. However they do need a eTA (if travelling by air), electronic travel authorization, which is available online and takes a few minutes to get it, free of cost and good for a 2 years.

Makes sense, as they can probably make more money flying to EU during the summer. That said, would probably be better to start 10/15 to get Diwali traffic and keep the flight until May 1st to get BOM school's summer holidays. Or maybe not. Just a thought.
