|
|
We know Spicejet names its aircraft after different spices. Air India named its 777s after Indian states, 747s after emperors and kings.
Among the early private airlines operating Boeing 737-200s, Damania Airways named VT-PDB as "Spirit of JRD", Modiluft 732s had names after German rivers(being ex-LH 732s).
While working on livery for East West Airlines B737-200 for X plane 11 FJS 737-200 , I found that East West Airlines had a practice of naming their aircraft after Indian cities.
I could only find three names. 732s EWA & EWJ were named after Cochin & Calcutta respectively. EWE, an F.27 was named after Pune. What about the other 732s?
East West 737-200s:
VT-EWA - "City of Cochin"
VT-EWB - ?
VT-EWC - ?
VT-EWD - ?
VT-EWF - ?
VT-EWH - ?
VT-EWI - ?
VT-EWJ - "City of Calcutta"
Anyone knows what cities East West's other 732s were named after?
]
Indian Airlines too had a 737-200 VT-EAM named Saranga. Any other IC 732s were named like that? |

Thanks lot. Much appreciated.
Thanks to 5Patel, VT-EWC "City of Delhi" flies in the sim X plane 11.
Would it be safe to assume that this is how VT-EAM "Saranga" looked like when it was delivered to Indian Airlines? The location of title Saranga on the fuselage , specifically. As per data available on the internet, VT-EAM was the only IC 732 that was christened.

If you do a Google search, there are quite a few images of Boeing 737 of East West Airlines.
However it seems that the name is printed only on the port side. If you would like to go into detail, there should not be the aircraft name on the starboard side on sim X plane 11. |

Thank you for your observation. You have a keen eye for detail.
However, I tried exploring that angle also. In the absence of photos of the same aircraft from different angles, I assumed that it was painted on the both sides.
VT-EWA "City of Cochin" - On the starboard side
VT-EWJ "City of Calcutta" - On the port side
VT-EWF "City of ?" - The aircraft name has been patched out (on the starboard side) near the door just below the blue stripe.

Yes sir, I have a keen eye but not as much as you.
Didn't notice that the names are printed but patched out. Looked again at the photos I mentioned above. Seems patching out of the name is the first thing to be done before delivery or after taking it back by lessor.
