Hi everyone,
In order to prevent another repeat DTW-FRA-BLR trip report, I've added some of the pictures I took en-route to Bangalore in April 2018.
SPOTTING AT DETROIT WAYNE COUNTY AIRPORT
Delta's CRJs and Mad Dogs at DTW's Robert McNamara Terminal (Terminal A).
Delta's cargo terminal. We passed this facility when the airport coach drove from the McNamara terminal to the North Terminal.
My flight (LH443) was from the North Terminal, after I checked in around noon, I spent some time roaming around the North Terminal.
Spirit Airline's A320-200
Southwest's Boeing 737-800 (with Scimitar Wingtips) in the old livery. She came in as WN2105 from Chicago-MDW
FedEx's Boeing 767-300F at the Cargo Terminal
This Embraer E170 was being prepped for its flight to Newark Liberty as UA3410
Another Spirit A320-200 was chilling near the Spirit Hangar
A Delta A320-200 landing on Runway 22L..
... And a Delta Boeing 777 on a parallel approach (Runway 22R)
The queen from Frankfurt, D-ABVU had just landed as LH442. This bird was once named Bayern.
Spirit's Yellow Taxi and Alaska's Boeing 737-800, caught during Taxi
More Yellow Taxis!
American's Mad Dog in the old colours
And an A320-200 in the new colours
PICTURES TAKEN ONBOARD LH443, FRA-DTW
Flying over Lake Huron
Flying over Canada's frozen lakes
Sunset over the North Atlantic
Flying over Amsterdam
Descent over the Rhine-Main area
SPOTTING AT FRANKFURT AM MAIN
United Boeing 777-200
D-ABVU, the bird that brought me to FRA. Sorry about my thumb getting in the way
Concourse Z is not very spotter friendly. Unlike some other gates, passengers descend to a lower floor to board the aircraft. That puts the terminal structure in between the aircraft and the camera's lens.
D-ABVP at a gate, she would later fly to DTW as LH442. I love this picture for the sunrise.
More sunrise! Transit between Concourse Z and Concourse C
Air China Boeing 777-300 with a special livery celebrating 50 years of Chinese and French Diplomatic relations
D-AIMA, a Lufthansa A380-800 at Gate C15
A Lufthansa MD-11F taking off from Runway 25C
A Sun Express Boeing 737-800, first time I'm seeing this airline
D-ABYA, a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i in the new colors. This bird was coming to land from Mumbai and flew past FRA before turning around for a landing on Runway 25C
Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300
Air China A330-300
Thai Airways Boeing 777-300
American Airlines' Boeing 777-300 in the One World Livery
D-ABYT in the Retro livery landed as LH755 from Bangalore
A Lufthansa A380-800 taking to the skies
KLM's City Hopper taking off from Runway 25C
Aeroflot's A320-200. The A380 wing got in the way..
Aer Lingus's A320-200
El-Al Boeing 737-800 taxiing to her gate after landing
Iran Air's Airbus A330
SQ's A380
ANA Boeing 777
D-AIGM, an A340-300 named Gorlitz landed from Chennai
She would fly back to Chennai as LH758
D-ABYK, a Boeing 747-8i, named Rheinland-Pfalz, my ride to Bengaluru
Eye to Eye with D-ABYK
D-ABYG, Baden-Württemburg, another Boeing 747-8i to Mumbai
Onboard D-ABYK:
I was really tired by the time I was on D-ABYK. I have the 7 hour 15 minute flight from DTW, on which I got no sleep and an ultra long 8 hour layover at FRA to thank. I have very few pictures of the second leg as I dozed off immediately after we took off, woke up for lunch and dozed off again, almost all the way to Bangalore.
Here are a few that I managed to take:
Taxiing to 25C at FRA
Lunch was delicious!
Dragon Air A330-300 at the neighboring gate after we landed at BLR
I hope you enjoyed this compilation!
Comments, as always, are welcome. And as the Germans say, Auf Wiedersehen! _________________ Best regards,

Ananth...a lovely mini-TR and photo report! You have captured the essence of what most of us enjoy in airports, and in the air.
Thank you! Cheers, Sumantra. |
