The manufacturing excellence of an Indian company is now part of the worlds finest aircraft engines. Working under extreme conditions and temperatures ranging from 200 degrees to minus 60 degrees, the hi-precision titanium and inconel brackets manufactured by Godrej Aerospace will now be a part of Rolls-Royce aircraft engines that dominate the global aviation industry. As many as 300 brackets go into each aircraft engine and the purchase of these critical components by Rolls Royce- that has signed a Rs.200 crore contract with Godrej to source 600 different parts over the next five years for its Civil Aerospace Engine portfolio- is a testimony to Godrej's and India's manufacturing prowess.
The first batch of components was formally handed over by Mr. Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman & Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce, to Mr. Kishore Jayaraman, President-India & South Asia, Rolls-Royce, during a formal function at the Godrej facility in Vikhroli on Tuesday, March 21st, 2018. "We have a 120-year heritage of manufacturing and innovation, and after powering India's space and defence programmes for over three decades, the partnership with Rolls-Royce marks the beginning of a new era for our global aerospace business", said Mr. Godrej, adding that Godrej & Boyce has the mindset to be a global player in the aerospace sector. "We have the supporting systems and the capability, and we need to build capacity to meet expectations of our partners", he said.
