Albek in RT Nagar and the small kebab outlet which opens up in the evening at the Mosque road junction just before you take the flyover towards Banaswadi. Also not to forget Bhimas at Church Street. My first introduction to Andhra food more than 15 years ago. and a must visit ever since whenever visiting Bangalore. |
Al-Bek in RT Nagar is right opposite my house. Their shawarma is quite decent. |

Discovered a restaurant serving Naga cuisine in Koramangla. The food is quite good. They also serve a Naga chili chutney. Try it if you have a deathwish.
Cheers

There's a couple actually. The most famous is Zingron and the next is "Ant Café". I've been to Zingron - loved the food. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Wow! Is it made from the real Naga chilly, which is one of the hottest in the world?
Would love to try some. The hottest I've had was a stuff made in Bangladesh that I found in a Jamaican-owned shop. I think it was made of the Bhoot Dholakia or the Naga Morich. Man , that was deadly! I had just a small piece and threw the rest of the bottle away. I love hot stuff but that was too much even for me. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

I thought I'd revive this thread to share my encounter with a Malaysian delicacy from Penang : Char Kway Teow.
So here's a short read on it at my new travel themed blog I've created :
http://tag4e.com/58/
My computer's broken down and as such I haven't been able to post anything more to the blog as well as trip reports, here on airliners-india.
I'll try to get back asap.
Cheers.
Aditya

Aha - Char Kway Teow - also available in many Chinese restaurants in BLR - it used to be my regular order at "Chung Wah" for many years. I must go back and try it again . I've eaten in at Singapore and Malaysia - and the BLR version is not too bad. The one you had looks delicious! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Need to check a few of them next time probably. Chains like Farzi have made their presence felt in Pune as well. TW visited, called it Farzi in true sense - fusion food which was tasty but should have been atleast double in quantity for the cost which they were charging
Kenny rogers - I have been somewhere and was good.
Noting this all, lets see when is the next trip !
Tried Dolma AUntys momo stall this time and honestly found it over hyped. Have a peter momo in Pune and that dishes out very tasty momos compared to Dolma Aunty _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |

The stall was outside a barber shop/hair stylist's abode. The Root Beer came from inside, and the momos, in the aluminium containers outside. I am not sure what it is now: we patronised the place in the mid-2000s.

Three exquisite pieces, Ameya Sir. Needless to say, I am eternally grateful that you allowed us on the WhatsApp forum, and me over Google Hangouts and gchats (and emails), to have a dekko as soon as the well-cooked articles came off the cooker!
I must mention this to all members of the group: The Wife and I had the incredible experience of listening to the Joshis talk about it after two days, when they came over for lunch at Karim's Green Park. Needless to say, while the Joshis write incredibly well, hearing it straight from their mouths, with their facial reactions, leg-pulling, and witty observations: it has a completely different flavour, altogether.
If this does not whet one's appetite, nothing will. The descriptions make the reader get the aroma in his nostrils. Amazing writing and pictures!
This has been a piece I have read, and re-read, after my first experience of Vietnamese coffee was not very encouraging. Yes, it was Co and with Mil.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Himmat Sir: I think the first stop for any recommendation would be our own Ameya Sir's webpage. This is an awesome article:
https://kuchkhatekya.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/food-and-frolic-a-gateway-to-pondy/
Every time I read this, I raid the larder in our house.
And this article is as fresh in my mind (and tummy!) today, as it was in 2015.
Cheers, Sumantra. |
