Etihad to drop SFO. AI non stop to SFO does seem to have affected traffic.
This is good news for AI and 9W, which will introduce flights to BLR and MAA. However I am not sure about connections, will it connect both ends on 9W to SFO from BLR/MAA ? |

BLR-SFO
9W 236 BLR 0225 0835 AMS
9W 8815 AMS 1025 1225 SFO
9W 8816 SFO 1435 0950+1 AMS
9W 235 AMS 1050 0040+1 BLR
Not sure if MAA connects via CDG. |

Perfect connection - and AMS is supposed to be a fairly quick airport to connect in.

Not sure if it is perfect connection on the return. Only one hour and one has to walk quite a lot at AMS. If the SFO to AMS flight is late, will they hold 9W flight to BLR ? Especially the KLM flight coming from SFO, which is notorious for fog and is delayed often.
Ideal connection time is about 2 hours. |

If it's 5 pax to BLR, they won't hold the AMS-BLR flight. If there are say 15+ pax impacted, they'll almost certainly hold the flight rather than deal with reaccomodation/ compensation etc..
I was flying LH BLR-FRA, connecting to LH FRA-IAH last week (it's a 1 hour connection), the first leg on BLR-FRA was delayed over 30 minutes. I had almost lost hope about making the connecting flight. After a brisk walk, I managed to reach the other gate in about 30-35 minutes, and found the plane parked and waiting. I checked with the gate agents about my bags, and they had already been loaded!
Once I boarded, it was good to hear the captain keep us updated - there were over a 100 pax who had delayed incoming flights due to fog at FRA, so they kept the A380 waiting for almost 30-40 mins until all the stragglers made it. The captain also told us that they'd fly faster than normal to make up for the lost time! We actually made it to IAH exactly on schedule. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

The AMS-DEL and AMS-BOM flight seem to be departing at an average 30 mins past their scheduled departure time and still making it before time in India. Guess the block times built into the schedule would be used to handle such exigencies. |

One still has to be depend on the airline's decisions. If you a miss a flight to IAH, there are still other flights which can get you there on the same day. But for the 9W BLR flight, is one misses that flight there are no other flights to India on the same day on Skyteam from AMS. It will most likely be the next day's flight. Not an ideal connection especially for wheel chair assisted passengers, seniors or families with small children. |

Well - there's always AUH to connect through (in if you miss the non-stop to BLR). In the past LH/ UA have re-routed me via DXB when I missed the FRA-BLR sector. Now that they've stopped all interlining with EK, I think it will be tougher to leave FRA - maybe WY or something... _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
