I regret that I got to this TR rather late, owing to bouts of official work which I couldn't wish away. I was waiting for this one, since you had given me a heads-up about it. The introduction is in your own inimitable style. The main body has the reader imagining seeing all this unfold in front of him/her.
This also brought back memories of my own one AI 127 journey via FRA (not a transit, as it was a same-plane service) in 2007. Very nice pictures of the planes at FRA! And come on, DEL isn't that spotter-unfriendly Smile
I enjoyed the pictures and descriptions of the India-bound LH bank from FRA.
$35...hmm....I am still rather intrigued why you gave the upper deck seat, up. For a seat with a reduced view of the happenings outside.
Lovely wing, wingtip fences, and bank pic!
Sparkling white as the Champagne moment...hmm...
It is nice that you got a good set of crew on-board.
the food being good in quality and quantity is a pleasant surprise: I guess LH have upp'ed their India offerings of late.
Bailey's in a plastic cup isn't quite gourmet, though.
The second snack would be a complete let-down for me, I guess.

The emptiness of your flight reminded me of a similar experience on board a CX B744 in 2001 YVR-HKG, just after the CX strike got over.
Thank you for a lovely TR, as usual! I look forward to AI 401, now.
Cheers, Sumantra.

Sir, I appreciate you putting in the time and reading this report. I guess no one else is reading my reports anymore, judging by the lack of comments lately Sad

Thanks again, sir! I'm guessing that was a B747 flight? Or was it a B777 by then..?

Some open parts are great for spotting at Delhi. Gates are less friendly Sad

Its almost like being in Dubai. Now, for LH to start flights to TRV, COK, CCJ, AMD, etc Wink

Sleep was a bit of a priority, sir. I had two more flights just after this one. With the 2-4-2 seating on the upper deck, I wouldn't have been able to sprawl out as much as I did on the 3-4-3 seats on the main deck. I have had my time on the A380 upper deck, thanks to Singapore Airlines Very Happy

I realized Champagne is only from Champagne, France. Sparkling wine is similar, but not the same.

As was the case on LH763 on DEL-MUC, as you will see soon. Very Happy

Again, almost felt like being on an Emirates flight Very Happy

True. I guess standard glasses for all humble Y pax..
As for the meals, compared to KLM, I was glad there was a non-vegetarian option too. However, the second meal on KLM was a full meal with dessert and salad. LH lost out a little bit there.

I love empty flights, especially when they are across continents on a quad-jet! Very Happy

Coming right up!

Thanks for reading this!

No quite: look at the sheer number of hits! 100+ in almost no time at all. A.net counts rise faster, but an AI.net 100+ count in a short period of time is fabulous! I guess most people read your reports on phones, and do not reply on the web forum, as well.

I got VT-ESP `Ajanta' in both directions. I was hoping for VT-EVA `Agra' in one direction, at least, as at that time, it was the only refurbished B744 with the PTVs, incidentally in the old Flying Sail colour scheme, with the dreamy Hawa Mahal-type three arch-sided window decorations.

Amazing memory you have sir!

The flight details you have provided sure give us a very good insight in to the Air India west-bound operations, then and now.

Thanks very much!
