DISCLAIMER: These are possible happenings right now, though I have no confirmation of the same.
According to this article :
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/economy/logistics/spreading-wings-alliance-air-plans-to-link-colombo-south-india/article9565900.ece
Alliance Air has also gone in for another rebranding exercise — now, its aircraft have the Konark emblem on their tails. A few years back, Alliance Air had rebranded itself to be called Air India Regional.
This could mean Air India Regional may be killed off and Alliance Air will operate as a subsidiary airline with 9I code.
I believe the journalist means "Centaur", when he says "Konark emblem".
A picture was sent to me which shows possibly just that. Again, I cannot verify the same, so let's not jump to any conclusions just yet. This is a possibility, though.

And now confirmed.......
As part of the plan, Alliance Air has going in for another rebranding exercise - now its aircraft have the first logo of Air India, which was a Centaur- a stylised version of Sagittarius shooting an arrow in a circle representing the wheel of Konark. The airline till recently branded itself as Air India Regional.
Analysts have called the move fantastic and designed to help Air India in more ways than one.

And why is this rebranding fantastic? And how does this help the airline? |

As a brand enthusist I think its awful, nostalgia aside for the logo, they should just restore IC Chakra livery in red and the logo be in orange, infact AI mainline should have adopted that scheme as merger livery. |

It will bring back the 'Golden Days', don't you know? _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Looks to be a more "complete" livery on the A72-600. "Connecting India" seems to be a new tagline for Alliance Air. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

It's a wonder how the common traveler in India handles "Air India", "Air India Regional", "Air India Express", "Alliance Air", and "Star Alliance".....I bet those counter and gate agents have a lot of stories to tell ! _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

The Alliance Air flags being paraded have the Centaur going the right way (forward facing), while the tail has it backward facing.

I tweeted Air India about the back facing Centaur but there was no response from their social media team. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

They probably have no idea what you're talking about. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.
