Vietjet Adds India as Latest Destination

12 December 2016

New Delhi, the capital of India, will be the latest destination of Vietjet following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vietjet and Air India for the supply of aviation services connecting the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietjet Vice President Dinh Viet Phuong said “We are very delighted with the agreement with Air India. We hope that Air India’s aviation experience and capabilities will help Vietjet in providing better access to India– a potential market with a young and dynamic population of more than 1.2 billion people. The cooperation will contribute positively and boost partnerships in economy, trade and tourism between Vietnam and India.”

Accordingly, Vietjet and Air India will co-commence direct flights connecting Vietnam and India, beginning with the Ho Chi Minh City – New Delhi route. Moreover, both airlines will cooperate on expanding the capability of sales distribution, implementing tourism and trade promotions between Vietnam and India; exchanging experts and aviation experiences; and collaborating on personnel training.

With its high-quality services, special low-fare tickets and diverse ticket classes, Vietjet offers its passengers enjoyable flights with dynamic and friendly flight crew, comfy seats, amazing hot meals and special surprises from the airline’s inflight activities.

Vietjet Air to commence Delhi-Vietnam direct flight in July

February 16, 2017

Vietjet Air, a low cost airline from Vietnam, will be launching a thrice-weekly direct flight from New Delhi to Ho Chi Minh city, commencing services July this year. Currently there are no direct flights to the city which sees India as a big potential market in the future.

Speaking at a recent event, Nguyen Bac Toan, vice director – commercial department, Vietjet Air, stated, “Seeing the growth of arrivals from the India market, we have planned to launch direct flights to Ho Chi Minh city starting July this year. The flight, scheduled for thrice a week, will take five hours and 30 minutes to reach Vietnam. This will cut down the transit time by 50 per cent, as it takes about roughly 10 hours on stopover flights.”

The airline will operate Airbus A320 aircraft on this route, offering 180 seats. Initially the airline is looking to reach 80 per cent of load factor on both the routes and is hopeful to see the numbers increasing in the future.

Toan mentioned that this is the first phase of Vietjet Air’s expansion plans in India. “We are facing direct competition from Air India, Jet Airways and other airlines on the same route, but we will be looking at partnerships with airlines to add more domestic connectivity within India. The second phase might see more frequency of flights and addition of other destinations within the country. India is a big potential market and we are looking to expand our network here,” he added.

In December last year, Vietjet Air and Air India had signed an MoU for co-operation on supply of aviation services connecting the two countries. The MoU was signed by Dinh Viet Phuong, vice president, Vietjet Air and Pankaj Srivastava, director – commercial and board member, Air India, as part of the agenda of H E Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s (chairperson, Vietnam National Assembly) official visit to India.

Vietjet Air to start Ho Chi Minh city-Delhi flight services

March 3, 2018

Vietjet Air on Saturday said it will commence direct flight service between Ho Chi Minh city and New Delhi four days a week to cater to the fast-growing air traffic between the two cities.

The company declined to divulged the commencement date of the flight, however, a company official said that services will be started “very soon”.

At present, there are no direct flights between the two countries.

The announcement was made at the India-Vietnam Business Forum organised here to mark the visit of Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang.

Currently, the airline has a fleet of 55 aircraft and operates 385 flights daily on its 82 routes spanning Vietnam and across to international destinations.

Not really. DEL-SGN is only 1971 nm (3600 km) and the A320 has a range of nearly 3700 nm (6800 Km) .

It is about the distance between say, COK and KWI.

Is this like an annual ritual for VietJet? Announce the DEL route and then vanish?
