I booked myself on Ai966 (HYD-BOM) next week to celebrate the end of an era on AI's most iconic aircraft, the 747.

Today, I noticed that there was an equipment change on my booking, and that it's now operated by a 77W. In addition, I can't seem to find any 744 flights at all in AI's future schedule for the JED-COK and JED-HYD-BOM routes. Both routes now seem to be served by 77Ws for the foreseeable future in GDS.

Does anybody know what happened? Looks like VT-ESO hasn't flown since Tuesday and VT-ESP hasn't flown since Sunday. Did they finally retire them from revenue service?

I saw one of the 744s (VT-EVA) land beautifully today in BOM on my way to IXE. Now I'm starting to worry that it was the last AI 744 landing I'll ever see...

I happened to see VT-ESO on the ramp at BOM last night. There was another in the hangers on the other side of the runway.
Would be really sad if the big birds are retired without any announcement and unceremoniously.
Regards
Danny

I'm booked on the B744, along with another forum member, for the third week of May.

I just checked my booking and it still shows that the B747-400 is operating the flight, so....

Looks like since I posted, flights after 26FEB are showing as 744 again. Just my bad luck I guess Sad

I wonder if the planes are being used for VVIP stuff next week, or if it's a maintenance thing. I don't suppose it matters much though - I guess I need to plan another 744 trip in June.
