China Airlines S17 Delhi service changes
China Airlines in last week’s schedule update revised planned Taipei Taoyuan – Delhi operation for summer 2017 season.
The update sees planned service reduction, based on comparison with previous plan.
Instead of operating 3 times a week, the Skyteam member will serve twice a week, from 26MAR17 to 28OCT17.

How do they make this twice-weekly flight work for them? Is it just O&D biz traffic? Mostly cargo? Or the usual West Coast bound desi VFR traffic that's flying for pennies on the dollar? |

Little of the former and nothing of the latter.
Even the likes of CX are floating fare of $850 nett on LAX - DEL; CI doesnt even stand a chance. It just manages to fill its flights in peak with the leftovers.
CIs days are numbered in Delhi. |

I would second that. EVA Air is about to launch flights to DEL sometime soon. That will the final nail in the coffin.
A twice a week schedule appeals to no one. Not even the fare conscious traveler. |

As someone who has tried to fly TPE-DEL many times; the lack of any reliable non-stop option is annoying.
Is there a bilateral issue that prevents someone from flying daily or EVA from starting? |
