- Those DEL decorations look so weird are you sure it wasn't some tiny AAI airport it looks like they strung up some balloons and christmasy things and hung them on the walls
- The sun rose from your side, did the electronic shades block out the glare completely?
- Nice crisp TR _________________ eP007 |

A lovely TR...one more checked out from your long list
Thanks for views of my home airport at a time when I have not really seen it (actually, I have, but with sleep enveloping me like to no end, even food-related excursions had to be ruled out, in all my 2am-ish presence).
You must have been really hungry, and ...hungry for spicy food!
That chhole looks nearly black with the garam masAlA...yumm.
AI 035 from a domestic gate: Hmm...this is something I am not familiar with, an international connector boarding from a domestic gate. I have seen the opposite, but with a catch: a domestic arrival at an international gate, but passengers are always bussed to the domestic part.
What a coincidence: ANQ was also my latest Dream)liner flight as...AI 101, BOM-DEL, 26 Aug'16.
Ha ha, nice prank on Mr. ILMLA with the Minions, and the window dimming!
Beautiful wing shots, especially the streams over the wings.
Oh boy, you have a picture of the CCU 9I AT4-9W bus tangle!
Thanks for a lovely TR...we look forward to more!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Folks, I do apologize for not replying to the comments on my trips, or not replying to any of the recent reports posted. It has been a rough few weeks, and I see the light at the end of the tunnel...
Anyway, I did manage to find some time, and post another trip report online.
Not the first Mihin Lanka review on this site, that honor however remains with my family as Dad flew the inaugural flight from Colombo to Kolkata, and wrote a report here!
I flew this route (CCU-CMB-CCU) during my Winter 2015 trip back home from the USA. So, without further ado, here's Mihin Lanka flight MJ332 from Kolkata to Colombo!
And the first on YouTube, a comprehensive video trip report of Mihin Lanka, the very eventful flight..... _________________ http://www.youtube.com/c/JishnuBasu777 |

Thank you, once again, another JB-esque trip report, with all the `essentials'!
Witty quips, lovely descriptions, an eye for oddities, and lovely wing shots.
Nice description of the planning procedure, again!
Yes, we do remember your Papa's nice J experience on the airline.
The cut-out with the taped head: effect of cut-throat competition?
I have not experienced the NSCBI airport's international departures section yet, so I poured over your pictures with great interest.
The external-versus-inline baggage scanning debate: I guess the former should have passengers with access to a good number of X-ray machines, which was unfortunately not true for your departure.
You seem to have some bad luck with pesky co-travellers. Great descriptions, and I loved the way you got back at them!
Wow, you got the Expedia Air Asia plane!
Nice catches of the two Biman birds in different era liveries.
Did you find out a bit more about the B762?
The small meal looks nice! Absolutely molten butter...hmm...
The first trip from your own pocket: it must have felt wonderful!
Nice pictures from the Sri Lankan airspace as well: did anyone click your plane over Negombo, or did your friends just track you?
Thank you for a lovely report once again!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

I truly appreciate the replies, all of you! Thank you so much!!
@Nikhil - trust me, with my already disorientated body after the long flights from the USA, a huge giant santa claus was the last thing I wanted to see, LOL
-Electronic shades worked awesome. Despite the annoying sun, I was able to darken it out a lot, and still be able to see the sun. Dream)liner benefits
@Sumantra sir - I have now been to Delhi's domestic concourse at that time of the day twice now. Stay tuned for the other one...jeez there's a huge backlog lol
My mistake, then it probably wasn't AI35...maybe a different flight number, but it was definitely a flight to Kochi.
Wow, AI101 on a B787?! Interesting... I'm assuming the ultra long haul was taken over by the B777-300ER...
Dream)liner is always awesome for wing shots
@Sabya sir - Christmas vacations, I wasn't surprised to see such a full flight
@Sumantra sir - quite unlikely MJ (or UL) has cut throat competition on this route, since AI/SG/9W are all one stop options great pun, as always!!
The international section definitely needs more x-ray machines. One machine for so many flights? Kinda non sense....
Unfortunately sir, I still do not know what the B767 was.... Nothing beyond knowing it was a B767
The only people who tracked me was Abhijeeth, and a friend from UND
No one was at Negombo....
Once again, thank you so much for your replies!
Regards

Yet another lovely trip report, with all the works.
Lovely wing shots, with lighting, and miscellaneous pictures which are absolute gems: the white heron, and the sea shore, to name a few.
And yes! Lovely pictures once again, with the Hi Flyer sandwich point, The Palm Strip, and spotting from there, as the day dawns!
From your pictures, we have almost taken a complete tour of every nook and corner of the BIAL at Colombo, old, but well-kept.
The food once again, a bit small on the portion, but looks nice, and that too, on a semi-LCC, soon to be history.
I have also spotted Volga Dniper's An-124s at CCU many times.
Bags do take time to come in at CCU: consistently late. I hope the airport management works on this aspect.
The international arrivals part is familiar territory for me: I have almost always ended up taking AI 20 DEL-CCU, and landed here.
Thank you for a lovely trip report!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Is that your ultimate aim? Traffic on your channels / pages?
Post on both the forums. You need the same transcript on both, as i understand.
Its ridiculous reading something on FR, specially a report from you, which has a lot of pics. _________________ Causal Determinism : We are hardwired to need answers. I don't have an ultimate aim really: I might even stop writing reports/editing videos altogether. But yeah sure, at this point, it is diverting traffic there because I feel I can make a better impression there.

Fair enough, its just a matter of copy-pasting the text. However, for the pictures, its not easy. FR have their own cloud storage for pictures, while my trustee Picasa Web has died a silent death. I have to work out a solution which is as easy as Picasa, but at this point there aren't too many options.. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/c/JishnuBasu777 |

Actually, you have knocked some sense in to me. I should've known Airliners.net is now free for all, and that I can use the Flight Report cloud and post pictures on A.net, where there is an even bigger audience, and faster loading times for images! _________________ http://www.youtube.com/c/JishnuBasu777 |

Great TR Jishnu!
Our coincidence spree continues. I happened to fly on AI675 from BOM to CCU on the same aircraft, that same day on 16 A. WHAT ARE THE ODDS???

.....and it was a delayed flight?
Wow buddy this is crazy!!!
The last time this happened was...on the Dream)liner to and from DEL, if I am not wrong...!

Yes...it was further delayed because of traffic in BOM. A long line of 5 aircrafts for take off and three for landing. Got to see the kuwait airways 747 and a saudia cargo 747 that morning. I think there was also an EK 777 in line for take off. VT-SCC took me to AJL that day.
Yes...the last time it happened was AI20/701 at CCU.
It is high time we met.

jbalonso777 wrote: | This is onboard Air India's A319, VT-SCF (in the interim INDIAN livery). | Sir, thanks for a lovely trip report, with the usual JB-esque delights that we always look forward to!
Some points, as usual:
- The AI site acting up: this happens sometimes with a change in schedule/equipment (in some cases, the equipment changes back to the original again, but the site acts up!)
- Not to nitpick, but you seem to have got 6 and 4 at different points: the interim-liveries AI birds. SCD and SCE have left the fleet, indeed.
SCF is the only one of the 43 aircraft order to come in without the PTVs, which are sadly either being taken out, or not being switched on, on domestic flights.
- The touch-and-go at CCU check-in would have been a harrowing experience. I have experienced this a few months back. Team Lohani takes this seriously: for any late check-in, the supervisor is answerable. Exceptions can come only from the check-in highest level official.
- `trashed out signage': trust your hawk-like gaze to notice such oddities AI signage ranges from the lovely to the absolutely rubbish, and you saw the not-so-nice end.
- Third party ads: yes, most of us had baulked on these, being on Jet Konnect flights, but I guess this is reality now. AI sees these regularly now.
- Rude crew: sad, sad...and you have pointed to four instance. This is bad.
- Chewbacca's sounds: ha ha!
- The food looks lovely
- Now onwards, the crew will say good-bye to you, and the cockpit crew will wait for passengers to disembark. There has been a directive. And I have seen this in operation, and had some nice experience, as well.
- Lovely Dobby photo (`love his expression!)

Not the most ideal flight, and you will find out why... |
...and once again, a lovely TR! One part missing: wing shots, but then, we understand why
- That Cat is cu...te! What is her name? Cuddled up right next to the Slazenger icon bag, and with deos all around her. Lovely pics of her expressions!
- Mumbai locals and the vaDA pAv: you make me nostalgic.
- I admit I was a bit surprised to see T1B for Jet Airways, then I realised my stupidity when I remembered the time-line that you have put up, especially for forgetful bozos like me, right at the top.
- Indeed, Jet Airways handled this reasonably well. And your vivid descriptions make the reader be there with you in the terminal, heart pounding in anticipation. The meal looks lovely, and Taj-SATS lived up to their reputation. And...is that a firnI? If so, how did this taste, as compared to the Air India recipe for the same?
- the irony of the weather-related delay! Trust you to notice it.
We look forward to your next few legs as well, since you have set us up with a nice introduction! (I note a nice seat number": a nice two seater part)

Thank you for both of your replies, Sumantra sir! Being the lazy being I am, I shall reply to both of them in one reply, right here
-AI site acting up sounds like Jet Airways' bad days when a five minute change in schedule or converting to Konnect or dis-Konnecting a flight would prevent you from managing bookings I guess the roles have been reversed, but its not good!!
-SCD/E were in the fleet when I flew, but they've left since I do believe. Apologies for the mix up!
-I guess we just lucked out then, and we are ever so grateful to the check in staff at Kolkata!
-I cannot remember if my last flight with AI (May '16, report has been typed, just has to be posted...soon...) had crew members greeting us on exit...
And for 9W495..er...477:
-Cats name is.....I couldn't believe it myself.... Dobby! But as a family we've agreed that he'd be called Dobby Jr, and while maintaining the original Dobby is just a massive puppy
-Wow, my TR delays are getting everyone huh?! I am so sorry about this
-That was actually kheer, sir. I loved it!
-The two seater is actually a system flaw, sir. Very rarely would you find me far behind the wing (unless in extreme circumstances which are beyond my control, and I will mention it..). So, the 2-4-2 seat on the AF flight was wrong. Despite selecting that seat on the 9W OLCI system, I still had my awesome over-wing seat on the B77E... pretty weird!
Again, thank you so much for your constant encouragement!
Regards
