In my ongoing quest to track down airframes that my father flew for the Indian Air Force and Air India, I recently learned of a preserved Indian Air Force DeHavilland DH82 Tigermoth in Bombay, at the Nehru Science Center. On a recent trip, I had the opportunity to go visit her.
Sadly, there are no markings as to the original registration number. Of course, inquires with the museum authorities went nowhere. Hence I was unable to ascertain if this particular airframe was flown by my old man, and when. Regardless, it was a memorable experience.

I haven't been back, or heard from them since the above, but there has been no news / info indicating that it has been installed.

747-237: Hmm..., I think we have had a discussion on the Conway Bypass engine also seen peeking from a part of one image. Would you remember if this had been taken off a retired B707, or was one of the spares? Given your encyclopaedic knowledge, this should not be a difficult question for you.

In the other thread about the simulator ( http://airlinersindia.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?p=147806 ) there are some better pics of the Conway engine. I am uncertain if this had been taken off a retired B707, or was one of the spares. I have to say, Air India was never one for preserving aircraft / engines, etc; and so this might have been a spare. There is no way that I can be certain, though. It is in excellent condition, so kudos to whoever preserved this. Even when aviators ran the airline, there was not much preservation done, something my father often regretted.
