Thanks, Sumantra. |

Sure.
9W has just two 5th freedom flights ex-AUH, one off to KWI, and one off to DMM
They basically are extensions of both MAA/HYD-AUH flights respectively.
These flights were used by 9W to allow for pax from COK/IXE/LKO to connect to KWI & DMM through AUH, while serving the huge MAA-KWI and the significant HYD-DMM markets.
These timings however, clashed with EY's existing flights to KWI and DMM, which mirrored these flights. Hence, I believe 9W saw it fit to consolidate at AUH through their partner, and in essence, free up a 737. _________________ |

Cheers, Sumantra. |

AI brings in new A320s to both KWI routes as well as COK-SHJ. The increase in seats (6 per day, 42 per week) are being reflected here.
Also, correction with AI's A321 seat count - all A321s are now 12J170Y.
EY's seat count for W15 has also been updated. The rest will also be updated slowly. _________________ |

Didn't they used to operate A330 at some point? I think I saw that in a few years old youtube video. _________________ Sabya99 |

Nope, they never did. Always an A320, sometimes an A321 _________________ |

ME airlines keep on adding seats wherever they can in India. 110 extra seats to DOH from CCU on a daily basis, I guess economics is not a top priority for these airlines, most of them are in "fishing" mode.
Good for people who travel that route, 5+ hours in anA320 is a pain in the .... EY is still flying A320 to CCU, I guess it's a matter of "Arab family" honour now for EY to switch to something bigger soon. _________________ Tally Sheet:

CCU is one city in India with some unused seats in the bilateral quota with the Middle East. With this increase, the chances of a BA or LH reintroducing a flight to CCU which was low before, and now it will be almost none. |

Etihad seems to reaping the benefits of not having Emirates, Air India (RUH/JED) & Saudia services into Kozhikode, while bolstering operations at Kochi, as it will operate 2 daily A321 + 1 daily A320 from Winter 2015 instead of 1 daily A321 + 2 daily A320, representing an increase of 38 seats per day. _________________ |
