After ages - a work trip, and in J at that. Luckily BLR outbound flights are all sold out in Y (checked standard LH + exotic EK/ QR etc.), so found this option on AI J via DEL/ CDG that was the most affordable. This was priced about the same as a AirFrance ticket with J outbound and Y return - but this way I get J both ways:
Code: |
GUPTA/NIMISH MR
1 AI 804 C 24AUG 1 BLRDEL HK1 0615 0855 24AUG E AI/JExxx
2 AI 143 Z 24AUG 1 DELCDG HK1 1315 1855 24AUG E AI/JExxx
3 AF1774 Z 25AUG 2 CDGOSL HK1 0945 1205 25AUG E AF/ZTRxxx
OPERATED BY HOP REGIONAL
4 AF1375 Z 29AUG 6 OSLCDG HK1 1650 1915 29AUG E AF/ZTRxxx
OPERATED BY HOP REGIONAL
5 AI 142 Z 29AUG 6 CDGDEL HK1 2200 0930 30AUG E AI/JExxx
6 AI 403 C 30AUG 7 DELBLR HK1 1635 1915 30AUG E AI/JExxx
Base Fare INR 66000
Total Tax INR 46351.00
Total Fare INR 112351.00
|
PS: AI403 on the return chosen exclusively to get the full life flat experience on domestic .
All tickets are on AI stock - so AI must have a pretty good revenue share with AF for CDG-OSL-CDG sector in J. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

- You could have come in the previous night on the AI 404 Dream)liner flight and spent around half-a-day at your Delhi base. Was this option not available/too costly, over the morning A320 with 12 J seats.
And you would have got a lovely dinner: AI 403 has a snack, though a very filling one.
- My AI Dream)liner experience on the DEL-CDG-DEL sector (TR coming up) last year was excellent: the service and food. As for the IFE, I find the content on the B777s much more than on the Dream)liners, possibly for obvious reasons: longer flights.
Nimish wrote: | All tickets are on AI stock - so AI must have a pretty good revenue share with AF for CDG-OSL-CDG sector in J. | I am not very sure of this. AI has had decent in-lining with airlines in other alliances from long back, long before joining *A. You will not get a single mile on the CDG-OSL-CDG sectors. I am a bit surprised that you did not choose an LH or a SK connection, I guess the timings/stops would not have been that convenient.
And yes...please, a TR from you is long due!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

I'm already gone 7 days for a 3 business day visit - my family would disown me if I went for an extra day - a Sunday at that!

Nice - I shall compare my experience with your TR once it's up!

The only option offered was the AF J class on the E-Jet. They did not offer an option on SK (which would be the other airline to fly non-stop on the route). I'm sure there won't be AI (or actually UA - whose program I use) miles earned on the CDG-OSL-CDG sectors. I checked if I could accrue on 9W, but now 9W seems to have broken up with AF/ KL (I remember at one time they were pretty close). Surprisingly FlyingPoo members can still earn miles flying 9W - https://www.flyingblue.com/earn-and-spend-miles/airlines/partner/188/jet-airways.html - it's generally always symmetrical! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Next trip to Oslo is finalized and ticketed. I had the choice to swing a AI J at 113K again if I really felt like it - but the convenient connection on LH + the awesome lounges at FRA, made me decide to stick with LH.

Anyone knows which of those taxes is the new LH EUR16 surcharge for booking on a GDS? I'm guessing it's the INR1398IN - which probably close to EUR16 + ST of 14%.
And my outbound BLR-FRA is already upgraded to J - upper deck window - courtesy a friend with a spare UA upgrade voucher. I'm on cloud 9 thinking of the LH 748 J on the upper deck ! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
