Hi there,

I just paid attention to differences in engines of B747-400 of AI and BA. Are they due to the fact that AI's are P&W and BA's are RR. Here are the photos.

There are three possible types: RR, PW and GE, and there was a picture on A.net some time back clicked at HKG, which had 3 B744 in one frame, each with a different engine type.
Cheers, Sumantra.

Can 2 engine types be mixed on a single 747?

Found this photo of HKG with two B744s. P&W and RR... couldn't find the one with GE engines.

Allow me to post some pictures of my own, of a B744 (B74E, to be exact) with GE engines.
B-16408 was the plane which operated my first ever 747 flight.

Spotted it a few days before..

Fly day!

Slightly weird picture of the engine..

The TR, where I describe the sounds of the engines. You can also have a listen to it in the start up and take off videos.

Nimish, to answer your question, I do not know if that's possible or not, but then again, the GE test bed had a GE90 fitted along with the original engines....

Regards
Jish
