Turkmenistan and Uzbek do connections to BHX via ASB and TAS. |

T5 (Turkmenistan air) connect ATQ to ASB (Ashgabat) to the UK (BHX/ LHR) on a same plane 757 service.
Similarly HY (Uzbek air) connects ATQ to LHR and other European cities
ATQ-ASB

I saw the crowd boarding Turkmenistan - all locals, which I am sure were going onwards
Uzbek was parked, since it was to fly out late in the night, wonder why so.
For both these airlines, everyday its a different timing ! _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |

Locals - from ATQ? Or from Turkmenistan?

And interestingly - both airlines follow the same pattern of a 2-3 hour delay per day leading to the same time a week later. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Locals from the Punjab !
Yes, just that Uzbekis change the aircraft as well. Spoke to the drivers from / to airport and they said, these flights are very popular and many people go by these flights. _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |

I chuckled at the statement of the driver saying ATQ is the only international airPort rail and ROAD in punjab |

I read an article sometime ago about Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan being popular with Indian men for sex-tourism. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Cheers,

A lot of Punjabis use Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to fly to Birmingham and London, and have been doing so for a long time.
Those two airlines learned about this market much before AI or any other Indian carrier, and have been milking it successfully.
It is something all the idiot planners at AI and MoCA have to be ashamed about.
The chaps in Ashgabat and Tashkent, like the people in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Paris, Singapore, Frankfurt and London know more about the Indian market than the fat a$$ed blockheads in Delhi. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Milking?! ROFL.... seriously it's the same propaganda touted again and again and it has been thrashed repatedly by providing many instances.
The chaps at ASB and TAS are just filling planes at yields trashier than Biman PIA and AI combined.
Oh and for your information, the people at Delhi at airlines at least have a far better understanding of the Indian market and that's why they choose to connect ATQ to Europe via DEL. |

Who says that the market is high yielding? Had it been, wouldn't we have had your esteemed employer running multiple 77Ws to ATQ every day, pushing everyone else out in the process?
Maybe the Turkmenis and Uzbeks are happy with whatever yield they are getting out of this niche sector. Being state run carriers with lower input costs, they are probably more interested in developing a niche market presence than running after profits.
A lot better than the AIs and the MoCAs of the World who were neither interested in markets nor in profits till recently.

Yes, it is called 'bolting the stables after the horses have run out, used the barn and spawned multiple generations of offspring'. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Got a response from 9W and EY.
EY says they are taking it up at the highest level with head of alliances looking into the case
9W has a stupid reply.
1. They say the route map is correct since London is connected by alliance partners.
2. The seats and cabin are checked before each flight and only then is the aircraft released, but they have taken note of the pictures of the seat and taking it up with cabin appearance team
3. All the water served is ISI marked
4. The delay was on account of ATC congestion at Amritsar !
5. IFE service is not provided on domestic routes
6. The rest has been noted _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |

Ameya sir, these are 3 great TRs, and obviously very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing!
Clearly, all airlines in India have their flaws, both big and small. But I guess its only Jet who consistently underperform everywhere...especially in front of you.. Hmm, what spell have you cast on them?
Exotic location too! J&K is one state which has been on my radar for a long long time..some day hopefully!
Looking forward to more!
Regards

Thanks for another nice report, Sir!
Dehi being hot at 33 degrees Celcius? Come on, Sir: we have experienced 47 degrees too, this summer. We Delhi'ites definitely envy you for the weather in Pune, especially the cool evening breeze!
Like Karan, I too enjoyed the driver's comment about Amritsar having international connectivity by road, rail and air.
The food pictures had me salivating, as usual. I must visit Amritsar soon!
For me, it was a bit surprising to see Jet's aircraft in a shoddy state. Of course, I have this more on Air India, which I patronise heavily, and have only on occassion, been on Jet Airways flights, where I have more often than not, found the aircraft spic and span, and the crew, quite nice. I guess Jet have thir off-days as well, as your pictures and description show something quite bad.
Ameya Sir: the only complaint I have about your three-part report is no pictures of the sightseeing, the raison'd'etre for the trip! Please post some for us, since you went to places many of us have not been to.
Thanks once again for sharing these gems with us!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Thanks! I know Delhi experiences 47! and back in 2012, remember we met at T3? it was 48 in Gurgaon where I spent a month. But this 33 degrees was dreary
I do not find Jets service upto the mark, something or the else goes wrong every time I fly and it is so different from the memories of Jet service during my school days across multiple sectors, TRV-MAA, CCU-IXB, CCU-BOM-PNQ and PNQ-DEL ! Hope they change soon.
As for the pictures of Leh - the plan was to have a nice write up about the place but you would have figured out, its still a plan ! _________________ www.networkthoughts.com |
