I can't believe people still think this is a safe airline! Unlicensed engineers, bursting engines and now this!

How can a water pipe burst, unless it is badly maintained or improperly used?

Bloody hell Shocked

It's unfortunate, but I'm not sure this is the fault of the airline in question. Anyway -hopefully the investigation will reveal what caused the failure!

I'm surprised you think an airline is unsafe because something like this happens? That's almost like saying AI is unsafe because a catering truck ran into their 777.

Unlicensed engineers is a big nono- but a water pipe bursting or an engine blowing itself up doesn't imply an unsafe airline if their procedures/conduct was not to blame.
An airlines safety record is not only based on their accident statistics, it encompasses the entire organisational and safety culture.

I am sorry but isn't that the wrong analogy? The catering truck which hit the AI aircraft was not a failure of the airline's maintenance or any of the aircraft's components.

A burst water pipe on the other hand , can point out to a faulty maintenance. It is far from a regular occurrence on any type of aircraft, and it certainly hasn't been an issue with the A380 as far as I know.

Was it a burst pipe or a leak though a B nut fitting of the pipe.....the former is material defect , the latter improper maintenance.

This wet carpet will need drying that wil take days, also the structure below the carpet below the mylar sheet could get corroded if not dried fast.

True that.

I guess my point was it doesn't necessarily make an airline unsafe. To me an 'unsafe' airline is one whose procedures/organisational culture doesn't treat such incidents as a threat or have a plan/will to correct those gaps (assuming it didn't happen all the time of course)
