|
|
i had a pleasant surprise this morning .. was out on ramp when all of a sudden VT-EQS was passing by under tow.. and from what i could make out.. she appeared to have been converted already to a freighter and was under tow for a check/paint to the IA/AI hangar?.. not sure since i was busy with my flight and i could only see the starboard side.. where part of the lviery was completely stripped just aft of R1 door and some panels near the aft hold.. as would be the areas worked on during a conversion i suppose. All windows were completely plugged as well.. so thats another idication she's had cosmetic surgery..
sorry for the quality but it was with my n80 and shot very fast without having any adjustments to allow for worthy enough shot for a mobile..
here goes...

if anyone can confirm this, it would be great... _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

Great work DABTH-
sir.
Air India receives first converted A310
http://www.aircargonews.net/article.asp?art_id=1960
***
This aircraft will be used on the India-Kerala-Europe route whihc has taken a sever beating after AIX's 737s have virtually replaced the A310s.
Yes it is. The next aircraft is in after 3 weeks or less.
After that it will the remaining 6 A310s and the 747-300s. Total = 10.
Air India wants a fleet of 12 cargo aircraft in total. |

so it is indeed already converted.. now to see the livery..
she was definitely towed to the hangars.. but which one, i couldnt tell.. one thing is sure.. she has to be painted again..
also.. there was a 737 fuselage being taken away from the airport for scrapping by the looks of it.. it was completely stripped of any markings except for the indian flag decal at the rear.... it was loaded on a flat-bed trailer and was just outside the airport entry gate adjoining Terminal 2A.
sorry i couldnt get a shot of that since we were in a car and were already near the gate checkpost _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

Depending on the Incorporated systems.max 7 days differential Traing from Maintenance side would be adequate. It all depends on what is different from the original.

It has to be VT-SID or VT-ECP.
Was a busy night yesterday so did not get time to check them out.
VT-SID was only in Fuselage form with Livery blanked out.VT-ECP was with Wings & broken fuselage.

I saw an AI A310 on the cargo ramp at DXB on Thursday, couldn't see the rego though. Will give a boost to Indian exporters who were hit hard by the lack of capacity with AI operations increasingly taken over by AIX and its 738s.
Cheers |

Air India took delivery of two Airbus A310-300Fs at EADS EFW´s facility in Dresden, Germany. Both aircraft bearing the MSN 538 and 544 named Krishna and Narmada were formerly operated by the Indian airline itself as passenger aircraft. The conversion into freighter configuration started in Jan-07.
Dr Andreas Sperl, President and CEO of EADS EFW, stated, "with Air India, we could win the first customer in South Asia, the most important on the Indian subcontinent”.
Speaking about the transaction, S Venkat, Executive Director, Public Relations, Air India said “the region has been experiencing an upsurge in the import-export market. Owing to this increase in demand, Air India has decided to deploy the first freighter in the gulf sector. This is a step taken to bolster the AI Cargo operations and cater to the growing import-export demand. The long term plan includes conversion of more aircraft into freighters”.
