SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch a premium economy class in the second half of next year.
This was announced by its CEO Goh Choon Phong at the firm's fourth quarter and full year earnings briefing on Friday.
The move comes as the carrier undertakes key initiatives to meet intense competition in the full service airline space.
SIA said it will release details on the new cabin class in due time.
The carrier reported a profit of S$27 million for its fiscal fourth quarter (January-March), down 60 per cent from the same period a year ago.
For the full year ended on March 31, SIA booked a net profit of S$359.5 million -- a drop of 5.4 per cent from a year ago.

It is a great addition, but SQ generally charges a lot even for economy, unless they are reasonably priced, you will find only some business class passengers downgrading themselves to economy plus, especially on short to medium haul routes. |
