http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/back-to-aam-aadmi-arvind-kejriwal-quits-as-delhi-chief-minister-483565

finally this drama, this farce of a tenure has ended. AAP just tried to choose a high moral ground to exit.
I hope this AAP business winds down and the more seasoned parties get to the task of forming the next govt. Its sad to say this, but AAP did not even try to put its head down and govern.

Kejriwal has played the ace card. Right from the beginning, he has been telling the Congress that he would accept their support only if they agreed to the creation of the Lok Pal. They refused, and so he has resigned.

Kejriwal has gone out on a moral high ground and will get an absolute majority if polls are held again. The Congress and BJP have both been left looking like buffoons.

AAP had nothing to loose. They at least showed some sincerity in implementing what they promised in their election manifesto. So I feel Kejeriwal gains upper hand than the rest.

Because every main stream politicians have proved that they are all for corruption, giving protection to criminals and need I say anything more about our so called elected representatives.

Kejeriwal was stressing the need of bringing police force under the ambit of state government, so that they could provide more protection for the Delhites. But then the centre wanted only their class of people to be protected.

All I want to see is more power to AAP party. The educated and uneducated sections of our nation should unanimously vote for Kejeriwal and his party in the LS election. If we Indians have conciousness, which I surely know we have, then we all must remember the barbaric scene that took place in the parliament, where the experienced politicians were all tugs and goondas, carrying pepper sprays and all the stuffs.

Let us all ask ourselves a question, do we want a government that forgets people after they win the election or do we want a government that is giving more importance to the real people that matter?

As useless as a long succession of Maharashtra governments have been, I am thankful for small mercies. Thankful we haven't had anything close to the ridiculous, disgraceful, item-number nonsense Dilly has had in the last few months.

AAP was no less goonda-like, with Somnath Bharti leading a mob forcing poor foreigner ladies to urinate in order to take drug sample ..
AAP CM sitting on a dharna just for the sake of temporary suspension of two jr policemen..
AAP announcing that those who defaulted on power bills would get discount- this one really takes the cake..
If this is governance by AAP standards,I am even willing to tolerate a Gandhi in power although that surely will not be the case this time around.

AAP stands for Absolutely Anarchic Party and I hope none of the middle class atleast would have anything to do with them.

Well, the unfortunate thing is that some of the Delhi policemen are hand in gloves with drug dealers, rapists and they also take bribe from the vendors. This is proven by many news papers that post horrific Nirbaya death, there have been even more such criminal acts committed and that too by the policemen.

That frustrated many Delhites which prompted the CM to take this radical step. Most of his predecessors were all least bothered about the plight of a North-East Indian, women and other victims of crime. Just give few sympathy quotes to the media as an eyewash and later on forget about bringing police reforms that are so important to put a check on crime.

All he requested was for the home minister to de-centralize the Delhi police force so that it will be easier for the state government to utilize these force to protect its citizens than the VVIPs only. But Shinde had other ideas.

Talking about anarchist, unfortunately our parliamentary and assembly form of democracy deals with number games. So a party requires an absolute majority to implement their policies and programmes. Sadly the current major political and regional political parties implement only those policies that benefit them and their associates. But AAP wants to frame policies that actually benefits people.

So if you don't want such things (CM dharna and all that you mentioned) to happen than give AAP an absolute majority and then India will be a better place than how we are right now.

I would dread the thought of a party like AAP getting a majority in Lok Sabha.. Their leader doesnt have the capability to run a housing society, let alone a state or the country. His chief ideologue has fully leftist agenda. His legal expert talks about breaking up the Indian union.
They realized that governance is Not their cup of tea, and just wanted an exit route that's all. The main agenda, which will be to try to upset the number game a bit by getting some 20-30 seats and dictating terms to the next govt.
For this, they will go to any extent. The best way to make them irrelevant is for the national media to just ignore them. They will bite the dust easily.

The AAP is here to stay, and the reason for that is the so-called 'governance' that the jokers in the Congress, BJP and other mainstream political circuses have been inflicting on the people.

The only people who don't have issues with these parties are the big city, air conditioned apartment dwelling, travelling abroad at the drop of a hat types, who have enough money to build bubbles of comfort in the cesspool. In a country like India, the votes of this section amount to a bag of beans and that is how it should be.

Whether it is waiting in queues in the sweltering heat and bribing government officials to get even routine things done, dealing with bad roads and worse public transport to reach work, having to pay Rs 200+ for a kilo of onions in a country that is among the largest producers of the stuff in the world, having to shell out horrific prices for food grains when millions of tons of surplus grain lie rotting in godowns or dealing with crippling power and water shortages, the lower middle to poorer sections of the population, whose votes actually count, have to deal with the direct effects of corruption by these 'governing ' parties everyday. They are all justifiably fed-up. All they want is a change of status quo.

Kejriwal and the AAP are the last hope for peaceful change. At least they still want to use the democratic system to genuinely try and improve things, even if their methods backfire sometimes. At the very least, a strong and non-corrupt third front in the AAP can make the bigger parties stop taking the people for granted, and focus on better governance.

The only other option is for people to start an armed rebellion. It is already happening in many parts of the country. Not sure if the big city bourgeoise want a maoist government shipping them off to forced labor in the villages in the name of cultural revolution.

The same Aam Aadmi doesnt mind going down the wrong side of the road breaking rules...

The same Aam Aadmi has no problem littering, urinating, spitting across the length and breadth of country

The same Aam Aadmi is now encouraged to stop paying money for public utilities..they would be universally pardoned

The same Aam Aadmi does not have patience to stand in a queue and will try to look for a short cut

The same Aam Aadmi would buy stuff without bills to save a few hundred bucks

The same Aam Aadmi would go begging for a recommendation to get his or her son into an Engg/Medical college, even though they didnt qualify for it in the first place

The same Aam Aadmi has complete disdain for public property, with no qualms about defacing them...

But in the AAP world, they are all squeaky clean and honest - its only the politicos, bureuacrats and now industrialists who are crooked n corrupt!! This utopian view of AAP is a certain key to its demise.

Apart from media gimmicks - Ministers sitting on the footpath for coupla days, vigilante justice, the token metro ride with a dash of unwarranted subsidies catering to vote bank politics, the AAP government has made a mockery of the faith imposed by the educated middle class of Delhi.

If this is the "Change" that you are referring to, I share ssbmat's fear if this "Change" reaches the Centre. We would soon have Kejriwal sitting on a Dharna in front of the UN becoz he wants the security guard at the US embassy suspended!!Wink

Agreed. The aam admi in India is not perfect.

Some habits are far too ingrained among us Indians, and are often responsible for the corruption in India.

But we have to start somewhere, and a positive change at the top will trickle down. There is the need for change and it is not going to come from the established parties who have benefited greatly from the (corruption infested) state of affairs.

There is need for a viable and clean third front, not made by the the same scum that make up the Congress, BJP, NCP, SP, AIADMK and the other circuses. The AAP can provide that.

I don't know what is worse, really. The AAP's street acrobatics or the silent looting by the smiling thieves in the Congress and other parties. At least the AAP is made of clean first timers, and not all of them are like that uncouth minister who went about abusing the Africans. They are more likely to bring about improvements.

I find it incredible that the CM of a state does not have control over its police force. Then dont call Delhi a state then, it is still a quasi union territory. I dont blame Kejriwal for resigning, some Delhi police are corrupt and cannot be trusted, while AAP has its defects, is should have the police under its control to have any effective governance.

A link to a story below illustrates the need for the police to be under the CM.

AAP is actually advertising a class divide that was resonant in the Bollywood movies of the 60s and 70s- the Amir-gharib , mazdoor-maalik, naukar- seth business.

But India has moved on from there. The aam admi has aspirations..even the lowest of them (economically speaking). And by alienating the classes, AAP is encouraging a dangerous move that is totally harmful to the country.

Perhaps they need to mature a bit more, make an internal churn in terms of idealogy and leadership and then build up slowly.
The problem is ,their current principals are men in too much hurry, even at the peril of wrecking their future by disappointing the faithful.

For last 65 years the kind of governance that we have seen, this is by far better than the previous ones. Here at least, the leader of AAP is taking the initiative in bringing the change, while the mainstream political parties are more focussed on caste and religious divide.

If there is no force for change as exerted by AAP, then GOD knows for another decade or so, we will be ruled by the dynastic politics and the communal forces.

I must admit that by giving subsidies, AAP is showcasing as a leftist party. But I hope they can bring about the real change that most Indians are looking for. That is, people should be in a position to bear the domestic expenses by getting good education and job security, thereby good income. I don't think people from rural India and urban are looking for subsidies any more.

Hahaha! Busted!

I was there, only it was to protest the daytime SIN-BOM flights. Because that just doesn't work for the poor people!

Unfortunately, I went to the Cooperage office. Only to be told that Lalaji sits in Andheri (or on EK). And there's no way I'm going over Cumballa Hill without good reason (the plight of the poor people was almost a good reason, but not enough).

AAP's downfall has begun because of lack of party structure and some of its founding members quitting the party. There is more rebellion within the party. It is sad they have proven to be a one dimensional party that is to fight corruption only. They are yet to take their stand on other issues like women, external affairs and others.

http://in.news.yahoo.com/aap-spokesman-slapped-on-live-television-by-former-party-member-105200338.html

I guess again we will see the likes of Khalmadis, Ashok Chauvans and other corrupt Congressmen ruling the country because I don't think majority of Indians want communal forces. There was a glimmer of hope to see a non-Congress, non-BJP and a non-regional based party alliances to govern the country. But AAP also seem to be in a confused state of mind and does not assure a viable option.
