At least Tom Hanks in Cast Away had access to fresh water and coconuts.
This guy was out in the ocean drinking fish blood, rain water and his own urine.
But I wonder how he didn't get noticed for over a year, with the Pacific being one of the busiest shipping lanes in the World?
There was also another young man with him, who apparently died and it is not known what happened to the body.
So it may well be a case similar to R v Dudley and Stephens, or the 1886 Richard Parker incident
