Popular Indian cars fail safety tests.

Would you like a cheap car or a safe car?

I can vouch for the Tata Indica, having survived a collision with a lorry at 80 kms/hr while riding it on a national highway, and emerging without a scratch. The car wasn't too badly damaged either.

Yes, but the Japanese and Korean designs are what I have always claimed they are - Recycled juice cans. God help anyone driving one of these things and having a fully loaded lorry ramming into them at 80 km/hr.

First our women, then aviation, and now this.
With all these things being unsafe in India, we can forget about being a global leader. And of course, there is so much more to the 3 I mentioned....

...and the Vista/Manza are even better, with more safety brought into the design. Excellent products, from the Tatas.
Cheers, Sumantra.

Which is true for other Indian makes of cars as well, such as the Ford Figo, and even the rebadged Renault Duster (marketed as the Datsun Duster elsewhere in the world). Helps keeps costs low, that's the short story of why this is the case.

I can vouch for the safety of Fiat Linea/Punto. Rock-steady ride, brilliant handling and sturdy as hell. Completely reliable too..
