Not really. Its used to operate the new routing DEL-AMD_CCU-IXB-CCU-GAU-CCU-AMD-DEL as mentioned above

Yes, it is in replacement of MSN 3933 (VT-WAO). Atleast thats what their permission from the DGCA states.

Regards
Nitin

VT_WAO was redelivered long back, if I am not wrong in May'12 and its replacement plane was VT-GOJ

Since then they added another one VT-GOK which started operations as BLR-GOI-BOM-LKO-DEL and v.v

and now this one VT_GOL.

VT-GOJ took over the rotues started by VT_WAO, namely DEL-CCU-IXZ and v.v

GoAir scouts for partners to sell 49% stake

9 May, 2013

GoAir, part of the Nusli Wadia Group, has appointed investment bank JPMorgan to scout for a foreign strategic partner to buy up to 49% in the low-cost passenger carrier, four people close to the development said, signaling the eagerness of Indian carriers to source capital in order to scale up their operations. "GoAir is in talks with three to four overseas airlines from Europe and the Middle East to sell up to 49% stake," an investment banker with direct knowledge of the development said.

"The company is in talks with German carrier Lufthansa and Dubai-based Emirates and Qatar Airways, among others," said a second investment banker involved in the deal. "It is very early to divulge more details," he said. "As a company policy, the airline does not comment on market speculation," GoAir's spokesperson said. The Wadia family owns 100% of GoAir.

Major discussions are with ANA, followed by LH and the investment arm of JPMorgan is doing it on behalf of G8. ALso tried pulling in SQ, which has so far refused to come on the table.

^^ I really do hope it's NH - we can certainly do with better ties with Japan, and NH could help elevate G8 from remaining a local fringe player.

India's GoAir catches the eye of Lufthansa, Emirates and Qatar Airways

13MAY2013

GoAir has allegedly caught the eye of Lufthansa, Emirates and Qatar Airways as stakes in Indian airlines are fast becoming a hot commodity among international carriers. According to India’s Economic Times, the Mumbai-based airline "is in talks with German carrier Lufthansa and Dubai-based Emirates and Qatar Airways, among others." Go Air had appointed Wall Street investment firm, JP Morgan, to find it fresh investment capital following a change in foreign direct investment (FDI) laws that now permit foreign carriers to hold up to 49 percent equity in Indian airlines.

Go Air, Spice join unbundled pricing bandwagon
May 28, 2013

Go Air on Monday joined other low-cost airline in a la carte pricing as it introduced a fee for pre-selection of seats on board all its flights and for extra check-in baggage over 20 kg.
The limit is five kg more than the maximum free baggage allowed by Jet Airways, IndiGo and Air India.
Go Air will charge Rs 200 each for window and aisle seat, while seats in row 3, 12 and 13 that come with extra leg room will cost Rs 500, said a statement sent to travel agents on Monday.

Go Air in talks to sell stake to strategic investor

Jun 11, 2013

Go Air is reportedly in talks with three different global airlines for a possible sale of stake. And even though the management is not spilling the beans on potential suitors yet, the low-cost carrier is already sprucing up its look and strategy to lure a foreign investor, reports CNBC-TV18's Sunanda Jayaseelan in an exclusive.

On one hand, Go Air is reportedly mulling a makeover, and a new look maybe launched in the next 2-to-3 months.

Additionally, the low-cost carrier is looking at reconfiguring its aircraft with reports suggesting go air could add business class seats over the next 12 months.

They are looking to add 4 seats of Business class in each aircraft. The dedicated ones and not the existing EU style

They are in serious talks with atleast two players and could see a deal happening soon - in the next 6 months or so

Closest is ANA

Travelled BOM - BLR on Go Air 325 last night. One of the announcements prior to take off was about drug trafficking being Illegal in India and punishable etc etc.. First time I have heard this announcement on a domestic carrier. Any idea if any other airline does it / is it part of SOP for G8.??

G8 has seen a lot of exits at top level, primarily owing to the management style. Infact the current CEO would probably be the longest serving CEO if I am not wrong.

Dad traveled on GoAir flight to BOM on Fri eve. Flight was late by 40 mins. No announcement was done or information given by SMS/Phone call.

GoAir was operating quite a few charters on BOM-GOI-BOM that day.

Flight was uneventful, crew was OK. Forgot to have seats upright for landing. Neither pilot nor crew apologized for the delay

I flew G8 their 1810 flight to DEL from BOM. Flight was delayed to 1905 initially, informed via sms at 1445 hours. However, eventually boarding at 1940, pushback at 2005 types. We landed at around 2200 at DEL, delayed by almost 105 Minutes.

Apologies were there, ground staff were quick to deal with tempers from passengers. All other flights were also delayed that day.

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/transportation/airlines-/-aviation/goair-charts-vision-2015-plan-to-scale-new-heights/articleshow/26379406.cms

The airline currently has a fleet of 17 planes and will get 3 more planes by July which will make it suitable for international operations.

De Roni didn't specify which destinations GoAir would fly to but said about 12-13% of its capacity in the next three years will be deployed on international flying, mostly to neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia and the Gulf. "For international operations, too, I see an opportunity from tier II cities and not Delhi or Mumbai," he added.

Deliveries from its 2011 72-plane order start in 2016. By 2017, it will have a fleet of at least 37 planes. It plans to take several other planes on lease.

De Roni said the airline will in the next two weeks introduce a separate business class product with upgraded seats and modifications in service across several flights in his network.

GoAir evaluates Airbus A320 leasing as competition heats up

The airline currently has 17 Airbus A320 planes now, will add 3 more aircraft by next July

December 20, 2013

GoAir is evaluating plans to lease planes over the next two-three years to retain its market share as India opens up to two new domestic airlines

The Wadia group-run airline has 17 Airbus A320 planes now and will add 3 more aircraft by next July. It has no further deliveries till 2016 when Airbus rolls out its fuel efficient A320neo.

GoAir has 72 A320neo on order but is now looking at options to increase capacity till it begins receiving the A320neo. AirAsia India which is awaiting Directorate General of Civil Aviation nod has indicated it will import ten planes in its first year of operations. Tata-Singapore Airlines too plans to launch service next year increasing competition for the existing airlines.

"We are in discussions with Airbus and leasing companies. No decision has been taken. We are evaluating plans,'' GoAir's chief executive officer Giorgio DeRoni told Business Standard on Friday. He said the airline management was studying market growth and demand evolution and added a decision in the matter was not easy with weak market conditions and uncertainties in regulatory framework, dollar movement and ATF price. De Roni said he can not share a figure for additional planes which could be taken up on lease as no decision has been taken.

"We are not under pressure to become bigger and bigger. There are many airlines bigger airlines us. We are growing and number of passengers flown has increased by 25 percent. That means we are offering some value for money,'' he said.

He said the management is seeking strategic investors. "The strategy should be win win for us. Foreign direct investment is significant opportunity for GoAir as for any airline. The main thing is that we should not finalise an agreement just to oblige Indian travellers to go via intermediate point to reach final destination,'' he remarked.

The last six months have been difficult for the domestic airlines with operating costs mounting and fares remaining at the same levels like last year. GoAir too has been seeing weakness after a solid first quarter. Demand growth has come on the back of aggressive pricing.

"The traffic has grown marginally but in order to achieve that growth some airlines are following very aggressive pricing which is not in line with increasing costs. These airlines are focusing on market share. That is not our strategy but we are forced to react due to competition. Overall the market is not positive. We have had best ever Q1 in GoAir's history in FY 2014 but we are witnessing weakness since July,'' he said.

GoAir has a market share of less than eight percent and is smallest of domestic airlines. It can not fly abroad since the current rules allow only airlines with five years of operations and 20 planes to operate on foreign routes. The airline's seat factor, a measure of occupancy, has improved in last six months.

"We are relatively comfortable with our December results but the last quarter will be challenging and we have to put all efforts to achieve a good result..We are on track but it will be challenging,'' he said. "We have worked hard in 24 months to make cost structure competitive and we are now focussing on customer service and training. I certainly respect competitors but I think we can deliver a value for money to our customers,'' he added.

• GoAir has 17 Airbus A320 planes. Will add three A320 planes by next July. The new planes will have light weight seats which help reduce fuel burn

• GoAir will revamp business class product by February

• Working to increase ancillary revenue and foreign exchange earnings

• Working capital requirement has increased. In talks with banks to secure additional limits

• Next phase of capacity expansion will be between metro-non metro routes. Exploring new domestic destinations

Does MoCA still has the 20 plane rule for international. I thought they had rescinded it.

I know advocating "regulation" is a word which will not help you in popularity stakes anywhere including here, but I am clear in my view if the regulator doesn't prod the airlines to maintain capacity discipline, then you will have another 2 or 3 Kingfisher's in the not so distant future.

Got this in my email (and it went straight to the Spam folder on Gmail - would not have ever seen this had I not been looking for some other email in spam)...

Good move from G8 - definitely better than SG's half assed 30 Kgs offer...
