While the US congress is fixing the loopholes used by Indian IT companies who bring in Indian techies under H1-B visa undercutting local techies, Canada's short-term Foreign Workers Program is apparently not spared by the same Indian IT giants.
Here is a story on TCS. The same news network ran a story on iGate (Indian-owned) few weeks back.

No one likes capacity dumping when locals are unemployed Sad

Yeah, well, if Canada just realised this was happening, then I really don't know what to say! Smile

Its funny though, because I have yet to come across a country more paranoid about foreigners coming to steal jobs away from Canadians.

Though Canada handled the economic slowdown more effeciently than other G7 nations, no one likes to loose his job. It's the good journalists who dig out these issues and force politicians to act.

Try send some Indian expats to China Very Happy A succesful professional pays about 45-50% of his Income in taxes in Canada. That in turn funds a good retirement and free healthcare. Temporary foreign workers simply do not fit in to the equation.

And there you go : http://profit.ndtv.com/news/corporates/article-settlement-reached-in-inquiry-into-visa-fraud-at-tech-giant-infosys-370859

That's a slap on the wrist, really, considering individuals found guilty of the same thing end up with prison terms and deportation etc.

Yet we still question why other countries want to increase visa restrictions on us. Hell we even go so far as to make statements like "how dare they? we must immediately reciprocate and show them who's boss and blablabla"

And we demand our Prime Minister goes to other countries and ask them to increase the number of people who are legally allowed to work / move there.

For shame.
