WTF Shocked

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/634966.html

Either Karthik is the new Indian batting sensation and Yadav is India's answer to Dale Steyn.
or it is Bermuda disguised as the Aussies, or maybe all of the above.

or is it just that everyone other than India is saving their stuff for the real games ahead???

Good, started out with a win, and a pretty comprehensive one at that.

Dhawan has a great future with India. Finally, we can bid the likes of Gambhir goodbye.

However, SA was pretty pathetic. Shows how bare their cupboard is without Steyn, Kallis, Smith and Philander.

Good to see Rohit Sharma being promoted up the order and played well with an half century. Hope he continues the same form for the entire season.

He is a true talent not given many opportunities to play the game.

Okay, I've overrated SA like many on the basis of their test performances.

The bowling attack they have in ODIs - McLaren, Kleinweldt, etc. etc. is no good. They need Steyn back. And now Morkel is injured as well, and why don't they pick Philander?

I think it's the quota system in play here.

Tomorrow should be good too - Pakistan vs West Indies. Hope Gayle comes off just to make it a 50:50 contest.

I think Rohit Sharma, along with Ravindra Jadeja, has been given more opportunities than he deserves. Really about time these two came good. How I wish kids like Rahane, Rayudu, Wriddhiman Saha and Manoj Tiwary had been so lucky.

Kudos to the Windies, and not just because it was Pakistan they beat. Low scoring thrillers like this one are far better than the 300+ score bashing parties.

The bowling, both from the Windies and Pakis, was a lot superior to what our chaps and the Saffers put up yesterday.

Coming up tomorrow, possibly the most one sided match in the tournament: England vs Australia Wink

That was one of the most mediocre one-day games I've ever seen of late.

England v Australia was what I was referring to, of course.

So the Pakis are almost out Razz. It was annoying how even some Indian commentators were marking them out as favourites!

The Saffers have a real find in Morris. Brilliant stuff from him. Amla at his sublime best as usual.

Can't wait to see how our boys will handle Kemar Roach tomorrow!

Pretty good game then.

It's looking like we can win this thing in a canter.

Yep. Can't see anyone giving India a fight. Maybe England or NZ. Maybe even SA with Steyn and Morkel, if they meet us in the final.

WI, SL both pyjamas

Aus, Pak both pyjamas without strings.

STRONG LANGUAGE HERE!!!!

I do not think they can face reality here.
Truth is, they are no one.
In fact, they are arguing about the time (its 12 am blah blah)
and hoping PAK defeat India and win the series.
Truth is, you know it well Smile
Just another bunch of Indian haters.

LIked the way Sanga played yesterday. He is one of the most dangerous players when he gets going.

Group A is much more interesting than B. All four teams in A are contenders for the semis.

As of now the Indian openers are doing well. Hope the middle order won't be required to play extensively during the semis and the finals. Only issue with our bowling line-up will be to avoid giving more runs in the end overs.

Looking at Group A, except for Australia, other teams have chance of making it to the semi finals. Australia have been below par in this tournament. Shane Watson has not performed well. If their match against Sri Lanka is a rain curtailed, then Australia may have the chance to win.

Even that was better than the Indo-Pak fiasco of yesterday.

Honestly, they should have abandoned the game during the first rain break and sent everyone home.

Yep, the rain was bugging x 100.

The BCCICC should bar the Poms from hosting any future tournaments until they fix their skies up. Summer indeed.

Today's England - New Zealand knockout clash has also been reduced to 24 overs a side. What a joke.

Will the final be a 32-over game? 29? 26? Place your bets!

As of now, India will face New Zealand in the semi finals after the latter's defeat to England today.

Assuming, there won't be another rain reduced match, the 2nd spot is still up for grabs between Australia and Sri Lanka.

I feel ICC should replay the rain curtailed matches, at important stages of the tournament rather than reduce the 50 over match to 30 or less. For instance, if it rains during the final match, instead of reducing the overs under DL method, they should carry it forward to the next day with the remaining portion of the game left.

This gives equal opportunity to both the teams.

It is going to be entertaining in the second half of the clash between Australia and Sri Lanka.

Australia will have to score the Sri Lankan total within 29 overs. Will be interesting to see which Aussie batsman is going to take the mantel. This something similar to that of Sri Lanka vs India in the last league game of the Common Wealth tournament. Virat Kohli played a sublime innings and chased the mammoth total within 40 overs. Smile

My Facebook wall Crying or Very sad
It was wrecked with Dilshan's catch, Malinga's celebration, Mahela's 86, etc etc etc.
Today is the day.
Hopefully Virat Kohli does his TROLL SRI LANKA ritual this time out.

I hoped that SA won the match yesterday. And I also hoped that SL would win today. In that case, both teams would go into the finals, and one team would lose the tag of being called 'chokers'.

SA were shocking yesterday! I couldn't believe what I saw. It is amazing what a pedestrian side they are without the big four Smith, Kallis, Steyn and Morkel.

As of today, something tells me that rain will play spoilsport again and India will get through.

I guess they were protesting because it was the 55th ODI between Indian and Sri Lanka in 5 years. Very Happy

On a serious note, it was really poor on the organizers part that the match was held up 2-3 times due to these protesters invading the field. Imagine how they would have reacted if a similar incident took place in the sub-continent.

Irrespective of whether these four had played in the semis, still SA would have not made it through. I feel sad that they are not able to win the knock out games and as a result, they continued to be tagged as Chokers. Because these four key players were there in the world cup 2011 and before that as well.

This has been the trend even in the 90s where they had the stronger team than Australia. To me, World Cup'99 was the golden opportunity for SA to win the biggest tournament in cricket.

Yes, it is about as serious a breach of security as can get. I think India and Sri Lanka should take it up very strongly with the ECB, even threatening that they will not tour again. I bet England would have done that if a similar incident had happened when they were in India.

a score of 80 for 8 in 20 something overs isn't choking. It is a complete batting failure.

and it is not like SA had bad players. AB, Amla, Duminy, Ingram, du Plessis etc are not bad batsmen.

To me the only explanation is that England's bowling is bloody good - something our chaps should really watch out for on sunday.

I felt Amla's wicket was the crucial moment in SA innings, considering that he has performed well against England in all 3 formats of the game. AB played a rash shot of a ball that was outside off stump. He should have a played a captain's knock by staying there till the end.

Something like what Misbah-Ul-Haq does for Pakistan. Never mind of his slow strike rate or the team falling few runs short, Misbah holds the innings together. Playing the entire 50 overs is crucial irrespective of the total score that you put.

As far as the final is concerned, Dhawan and Rohit have to play Anderson and Broad judiciously. They are great bowlers in their home conditions.I don't know how the wicket is going to be but toss will be crucial.

That will be sad for England as they have a great chance of winning this tournament. Even if a over is not bowled, they might extend it to Monday like what it was in 2002 Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.

Bopara has batted well in the later part of the innings. And not to forget Joe Root who is an explosive batsman in the middle order. Overall it is going to be a pretty good contest tomorrow, weather permitting of course. Smile

I believe they should get rid of meaningless bilateral series and change the format of Champions Trophy. Something on the lines of UCL or EPL, would make CT more interesting.

England totally SouthAfricafied this match! Very Happy

HUGE HUGE moment in Indian Cricket!

team to lift the first ever T20 Championship, and team to lift the final Champions Trophy!

So under MS Dhoni
- World T20 Champions
- Worlds No. 1 Test team
- ICC World Cup Champions
- Worlds No. 1 ODI Team
- Holders of the final Champions Trophy.

Need I say anything else?

Kudos to Dhoni. So many tournaments won under his captaincy and yet he gives credit to his team for the success. It is good to seem him going in the background and let his team members hog the limelight and enjoy the celebrations.

It was so nice to see him handing over the champions trophy to Shikar Dhawan who was the consistent performer during the tournament and also formed a good opening stand with Rohit.

That is an hallmark of a selfless captain. Now some critics may dispute his action as an eyewash. But still it takes lot of soul to do that. Very Happy

Amazing how close England came to winning!

But Congratulations to Dhoni and his boys! They sure are a merry bunch, particularly in ODIs. Great work!

On the contrary, I think this format is excellent. Barring the rain washouts, the tournament has been really exciting.
Only the top eight teams, no unwanted tourists (the Irelands, Bangladeshs and Zimbabwes of the world). Almost every match was a knockout so everyone was on the edge at all times. It was not bad at all.
The only thing lacking IMO, was the absence of a reserve day for the final. The ICC goofed up in this, despite knowing fully well that rain could play spoilsport. Total lack of planning on their part.

Good win. Also very encouraging to note that 8 outta the 11 didn't play last year's 50-over World Cup.

Looking forward to the South Africa series now. We'll be smashed, but let's try and gather as many positives as we can.

Not looking forward to the really useless tri-series involving West Indies, India and Sri Lanka? I guess no one is, not even the players.

No one in his right mind is looking forward to anything featuring any India-Sri Lanka match. Not for another five years at least.

They should have made this tri-series a test series between Sri Lanka and West Indies, as was originally planned.

The Aussies are playing much better than anyone expected. Ashton Agar, my word Shocked

The English are sloppier than usual, apart form Anderson, of course.

Looking forward to the rest of The Ashes Very Happy

Sad to see Ashton Agar miss out on his century by 2 runs. He was outstanding and did not look like a no. 11 batsman. Smile He and Kim Huges forged a brilliant partnership to revive Australian innings and give them a lead.

Meanwhile, in the Celkon Tri-nations final, India have wiped out Sri Lankan innings before 50 overs. After the 122 run stand between Sangakara and Thirumane, the entire team got all out for 201 runs.

Absolutely. Every shot he played was a cricketing shot, . No flukes or chances, except in the ball that got him out.
Excellent innings under pressure.

Not even following that ...... Wink Shall not follow the Zimbabwe circus either.

My next look at India will be during the test series in SA.
