Karnataka seeks pvt airline operators’ support
Bangalore, Dec 19 (UNI)
Karnataka government today sought the support and views of private airline operators to realise its plans to expand airlink to commercial and tourist hubs.
The representatives of private airline operators, who witnessed the power point presentation on the initiatives taken by the government to set up airports in smaller cities at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, wanted tax concession on fuel and waiver of landing charges.
‘‘I am interested in placing Karnataka as an important hub in this sector. Already the traffic from Bangalore Airport has registered 50 per cent growth in the current year,’’ Kumaraswamy said.
The government planned to expand existing airports at Mangalore, Hubli, Belgaum, besides operationalising the Mysore and Bellary airports, he told reporters later.
It also has plans to develop greenfield airports at Hassan, Shimoga, Gulbarga and Bijapur and use existing defence airports of Karwar and Bidar for civilian operations, he said. [/i]

I for one have no faith in what HDK says. He talks about operationalizing MYQ. It is the state govt. which had been reluctant to hand over land to AAI for expansion of the rwy at MYQ.

Karnataka Government is now appraoching the Defence Ministry to expand the air base at Karwar to enable A320 operations.

Karnataka Govt wants a Goa-model for Karwar.

The private airline can only be Air Deccan.

HDK has a reputation of a innocent man caught among corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. But none of the things he promised has been accomplished so far.

Bhargavi, you are 100% correct. BLR is a great city to live in, but politicians and stupid bureaucrats are ruining this peaceful city.

Unless "Gowdagiri" comes to a complete halt, the infrastructure in BLR is unlikely to improve.

Even the other great cities in India are in a mess because of these people who just don't seem to care about the welfare of its people.

Its the same with govt run airlines....ministers get their profits out of both AI and IC and care a damn for the betterment of these airlines and we blame a million other sources for the present conditions of these two airlines.
Many people won't agree with me on this point. Till today QF was a govt. run airline and just have a look at them. Fantastic airline... allright flaws are there even with private airlines please don't argue on such useless points like my QF flight was delayed by 2hrs blah blah blah

You have to bribe the ruling party to launch your product in a country or State.
Devil cares whether it's good for people.

And Bangloreans live in two ages- hi-tech and stone age.
Just five kilometers off the city, you will find people, who do not know what internet means.

And in general, can you expect any politician or a bureaucrat to be aware of the happening?

There are a few exceptions- former IT secretary of Karnataka runs a Knowledge Process Outsourcing centre now. (One bright man among the herd).
Good luck o Indians and me!

Lets not forget the conditions of our airports which is a bad thing considering the growth in aviation sector. The previous govts should have pressed for privatisation of these apts that time itself. Most of the apt staff are more worried about their job security then apt modernisation.Cok apt which is run by a private company is doing well.So privatisation of apts is a good thing.

More than anyone else, it's the "first-family" of BLR - the Gowdas - who are to blame for the mess the city/state are in right now. Especially the elder patriarch - Mr. Deve Gowda - he's really the least visionary and (probably) most corrupt of the whole bunch
