Oops - that sucks . Unfortunately it's already ticketed, so can't change it. But perhaps work will call for a change in plans, and hten things will pan out better .
You've got a pretty exotic itinerary too - is that bought as multiple one way sectors? _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

I am sure all of us here will look forward to that!
I guess the CR1 and CR2 are among the most uncomfortable of planes, going by the number of bad reports on the type. The CR7 has a tiny lavatory at the back - I am speaking from my one experience on AI-R's CR7, VT-RJD, the `political party' plane.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

I'm very excited |
So are, we, Rohit
We look forward to more than one profusely illustrated trip report, on the whole trip. Aren't we AI.netters greedy? In addition to Nimish's question, I have another related one. Even if the overall trip is not on the same ticket, are the two AI legs on the same PNR? If so, and otherwise, will you be allowed to clear customs and immigration in HYD itself, or will you have to do the DEL-HYD leg as a domestic flight, get all your bags out (I have seen AI giving the generous international baggage allowance to passengers with domestic legs, when they connect to AI international flights), and then clear customs and immigration in Delhi?
Thanks, Sumantra. |

sumantra wrote: | Even if the overall trip is not on the same ticket, are the two AI legs on the same PNR? | No, the trip is on 4 tickets:
1) HYD-DEL
2) DEL-KTM
3) KTM-BKK-SEL-LAX
4) BUR-PHX-BOS
I tried to book tickets 1 and 2 together, but website, call center, and GDS all gave an error for some reason. Maybe the fare was non-combinable. *shrug*
sumantra wrote: | If so, and otherwise, will you be allowed to clear customs and immigration in HYD itself, | I actually have a 28 hour layover in DEL - meeting some family.
Even if I was planning on staying airside, then I wouldn't be able to clear at HYD/DEL. The exception is if I was flying on AI 127, in which case I could *theoretically* clear at HYD, assuming my bags were checked through to DEL.
sumantra wrote: | (I have seen AI giving the generous international baggage allowance | What generous international baggage allowance? Domestic allowance is 25 Kgs, international is 20 Kgs.
If I was connecting to US/Canada from HYD on AI, I would be able to get 2x23 Kg bags. _________________ Editor of AeroBlogger |

Precisely, Rohit, the US/Canada flights. I have seen this on two flights - I do not know if this was an exception, or the rule:
1. 07 Dec, 2011: AI 850, PNQ-DEL. The passenger was connecting to AI 101.
2. 18 Jan, 2010: IC 895, JAI-DEL. The passenger was again connecting to AI 101.
In the first case above, it was a domestic flight. In the second case interestingly, this was the domestic section of an international flight (JAI-DEL-DXB).
Cheers, Sumantra. |

As usual fares to/from BLR were horrendous, so managed to move my dates around and found a cheap flight out of BLR (my first on a 748) and return via MAA to keep the EK/QR brigade away. Will try and put together a photo TR for the 748 sector - quite excited about it. Had the choice to do the 787 as well - routing BLR-DEL-IST-CDG, but the layovers were insane, and the trip was just taking too long. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Nimish, many of us have been waiting eagerly for your last US trip photo report, too! We do look forward to both this, as well as a photo TR on the 748, and other legs as well.

I have a colleague traveling this weekend along with me - he's an EK FFP. It turns out all 6 flights on EK for BLR-DXB this weekend are sold out in Economy! The 4 DXB-CDG flights have plenty of capacity, but the BLR-DXB sector is the bottle neck.
Now I get a sense of why EK would like to increase the capacity to India, and how much they're willing to "invest" to get that increase approved. I think they could easily upgauge the 4 am flight to a 77W/380 and it would still go full during the weekends.
Contrast this with AF - which still has plenty of unsold inventory on BLR-CDG for this weekend. And worth nothing that AI's DEL-CDG is still selling on the cheapest fare buckets. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

I have not posted on this sub forum before, only noticed this recently.
My flying has dropped this year compared to last year. Till October I had 45 flights last year, this year down to 32, less work related travel.
Next flights: IAH-EWR-MAN-EWR-IAH in November
Liverpool-Barcelona-Luton in Nov. |

What a way to end the year - a trip report from Ameya! Ameya, I have heard good things about the food on SG . My brother has done BLR-DEL on SG, and Papa did DEL-PNQ on the carrier, today morning. Both have been impressed with SG's offerings.

Managed to find a fare cheaper than QR/ EK by choosing mid-week dept and arrival . Unfortunately does not earn miles on my new FFP program (Turkish), so will continue to earn on UA though I have no status there this year. Will use my TK status to get lounge/ baggage etc.
Also - this is probably my first time on the 764 - and definitely the longest I've been on a 767 - the previous longest with OS BOM-VIE. Should be fun - and hopefully manage to find some empty seats on the 748 - to/from BLR. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Oops - you're absolutely right, and I'm an idiot . I flew the exact same sector last July, and forgot about it! Probably because I used a voucher to upgrade to J, so never got to experience the 2-3-2 seating on the 767 that time around . I have no vouchers and no status next week (on United), so will definitely be in the back of the plane, but looking at the loads today (same Tuesday flight), it's quite empty, so hopefully will be equally light next Tuesday as well! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

@Sukrit, I will get back hopefully today end on this.
Meanwhile the G8 rotation is
BOM-GOI-BOM-IXC-BOM-BLR-PNQ-BLR-BOM
The flight could be a little late as is how the trend is currently. |

A short one compared to all of yours:
1)AI 469 DEL-RPR-DEL 29 or 30 May; Back on 15 or 10.
2)DEL-PNQ-DEL on an undecided carrier, Most probabely G8 or AI. Mid-May.
3)DEL-SVO on Aeroflot. 4 or 5 August.
After the last section you'll see the flight reviews of Europe from my side.(I am shifting to Moscow ) _________________ “Aviation is proof that given, the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.” - Edward Vernon Rickenbacker |

The only DEL-SVO report on this forum is possibly the one I wrote up, for a 2011 trip. It will be exciting to see how the route is doing now. Further, SVO-Europe trips sound extremely exciting!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Me too excited about SVO. BTW It's a bit OT that which carrier should I choose for DEL-PNQ-DEL. I mean AI,6E and G8 are offering almost the same fares. Spicejet close too but Jet Airways in it's own world I really wanted to try them again but there tickets are R-I-D-I-CU-L-O-U-S-L-Y priced. I wonder how do they even report 70% load _________________ “Aviation is proof that given, the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.” - Edward Vernon Rickenbacker |
