There has been intense discussion, for last few days, on this forum over the current financial dillema that Kingfisher Airlines is going through.

I have found some members, wanting the airline to survive while others say VJM deserves this as he took wrong decisions at crucial times.

So that leads to a question whether government should bailout this carrier just to see it fly again in the Indian skies?

Our PM has hinted it would do something regarding this while there are others from political field to other industrialists who are not in favour of Government bailing out a private sector company.

I would like know from other members here with reason as to what you guys think about this.

GOI will not give KF a Bailout, but a Loan maybe....

I believe the Airline should be assisted in getting necessary fundings provided it proves it has the capability to return the loans. But this should be a rule for all concerned & not exceptions.

KF closing will mean setback to the Aviation situation in the country in terms of unemployed. In addition it would involve legal battles with Leasing companies & outstanding bills.

KF should submit their plan on the revival process.

GOI can help Aviation by reducing Taxes & encouraging more than 49% FDI by "Aviation companies".....

Let IT close down if VJM is unwilling to pony up the 300cr equity infusion demanded by the lenders before they add any more funds. He needs to realize this is serious business and a business model change every year does not mean "agile and nimble management practices" - it essentially shows you're clueless.

Note: I will personally suffer a lot of loss due to massive accumulations of miles/ free tickets on IT, but that' my fault for trusting the fat one.

Bailout = no.
Assistance, in some form yes. The government can assist in some way but with riders (otherwise all airlines would rightfully want/demand the same)
Maybe a cheaper loan with a rider saying the airline is obligated to do this this and this, etc?

The GoI need to do more to assist the industry. Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Go, Indigo they all cant be inefficient.
(Indigo might be doing relatively better .... but there's no way they made 500 crores profit Rolling Eyes)

Kingfisher Airline has still not stated as to how are they going to pay all their dues to the banks, airport operators and fuel suppliers.

More than the government bailing VJM out, it is he who has to take the tough decision of selling all his lavish properties at higher price.

But the question is who is ready to buy them?
