Wondering if there are any fans of skyscrapers amongst us.

Was trying to keep a track of all upcoming/proposed and underconstruction skyscrapers in India.

So far I know of

1) SD Towers, Mumbai - 250 metres, 60 stories

2) Lodha Bellisimo - 250 metres, 57 stories

3) IITC Tower Mumbai, 72 stories

No render available.

If anyone has got more info/pics please share.

Cheers

Probably but they still seem to be building plenty of these high rises. Esp residential ones. I am not sure if the city really has the infrastructure to cope with emergencies such as fire.

Oberoi Sky Garden. 35 floors. It is just across the street from my apartment building in BOM. It is complete now and looks better than what is depicted in the picture.

Isn't this the same tower where the lift opens inside the house and you need a security card to get into the lift? Also Shekhar Suman's having a top floor flat there if im not wrong...

I like skyscrapers. With the price of a land increasing rapidly in all the major metros,it is clear that most of the builders will look out for this type of structure. If you look at big cities around the world they all have huge skyscrapers. There will be more skyscrapers in major cities of India in the coming years.

G-BYBG

You hit the nail on the head mate. And there will definitely be lots of skyscrapers coming up in Mumbai now.

But Id wish they were more glass skyscrapers than the concrete ones. But I am sure those will come too. In good time.

I was looking at an aerial view of Mumbai harbour which looked really beautiful. Imagine the low rises removed and replaced with glassy super talls. beautiful.

BTW I believe flats on the SD sold for Rs 20 cr to Rs 70 cr.

Cheers

AKL - the glass structures look pretty but I think they are very energy inefficient in a country like India. With the amount of sun that pours in everyday, having glass walls (even if tinted) considerably increasing the energy costs (due to airconditioning energy needs being much more than the saved lighting needs). So I think one or two glass structures are fine, but the rest should have opaque (and total sun blocking) walls!

I agree with you Nimish that normal glass may be energy inefficient, but with tinted glass they might be able to counter that. In Dubai they are doing it where summer temperatures reach 50+. In BOM temp only go upto high 30s like SIN and SIN has quite a few glass towers.

Also whether the tower is concrete or glass it will def have aircon which will almost always be on so i doubt if too much energy will be saved by building concrete.

Cheers

DXB and SIN have no power cuts... now atleast thats reduced in BOM... but such a construction would definately be very expensive and in BOM as it is estate prices are very ghigh on top of that if you make expensive bldgs. rates will further go up and sales might drop...

Mate its because of the high real estate prices do you need tall buildings.

Also in Mumbai as in most of India, the demand is crying out for supply. Sales will never drop.

Cheers
