|
|
Air Deccan will add four more aircraft to its fleet strength before the year end, its Chief Operating Officer Warwick Brady has told NDTV Profit TV in Delhi today.
With this the fleet strength would go upto 53, including 23 AA320s.
Jodhpur, Udaipur, Dharmasala, Dimapur and Jamshedpur would be brought under the airlines map before the year end.
The airlines Hangar at Chennai, coming up at a cost of USD five million, would be commissioned next month.
"For the first time in aviation history", Chennai would have a direct daily flight to Agartala from March 26.
Chennai would also have direct flights to Bhubaneshwar from that day, he said.
The airlines would also introduce additional daily flights to Madurai from that day, he said.
The company expected to start earning profit from 2008-09, he added.
Just to add to this. The Sri Lankan Government has refused permission to Deccan Lanka. Deccan apparantly didn't file its papers in time. |

Anyone know how many are ATR-72 and ATR-42 ?
It will be interesting to see if this finally kills off Jagson. This airline with its 2 or 3 Dorniers can survive only on monopoly routes. They have already stopped flying to Rajasthan. DN's flight to Kulu will probably kill off Jagson there. (Some time back I was planning to go there. Jagson was charging 4650 one way and DN about 2500). Now Jagson will lose Dharmashala as well. They will be only left with Shimla and Pantnagar.
Anyway, there isn't much future for an airline which has grammatical mistakes on its home page. |

There is space for 2 players. DN's entry ofcourse queers the pitch for Jagson and it remains to be seenhow they handle it.
DN's ATR ops are quite good actually. Quite unlike their A320 operations. Methinks they should have stuck to connecting India with ATR's consolidating before going out and buying 2 dozen A320's. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

The ATR42-320 and -500 are nearly identical ont he outside and have similar capacity etc.
However the -500 has better performance parameters and as a passenger is MUCH MUCH queiter than the -320. The sound difference is the most obvious: thats how I usually tell between them! The -500 has 6 bladed properllors while the -320 has 3 bladed propellors. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Excellent info - thanks Cougar!
So I guess the -320 must be the older generation of ATRs, while the -500 are newer? What does IC operate, the -320 or the -500 version? I'm guessing 9W and IT all use the -500? |

IT has all ATR-72 equipment.
9W also has all ATR72 planes.
Dunno whether IC has -312 or -500. Their website does not state anything. |

ATRs with IA are ATR-320.
IA is now looking at the lease-in of three ATR 42-320 aircraft with PW 121 Engines or ATR 42-500 with PW127 Engines for 5 years extendable to 7 years.
IA is also looking at 10 pilots to fly them as part of the lease deal.
In addition, its looking at 6 regional Jets (70-seater) and a package of 20 pilots. Lease to be for 5 to 7 years. |

Does anyone know which flights of DN use the ATR-72? It is not clear from their timetable or inflight magazine, although it seems clear that flight numbers starting with 6 or 7 are A320.
In fact IC seems to be the only multi-aircraft operator which clearly states the aircraft type on its schedule on their website. (For Spicejet, Indigo, Go and Paramount there is no problem as they have only one type of aircraft). Jet does not mention the type on the schedule, but it does come on the ticket once you have booked it.
The above points are based on my experience a few months ago, please correct if I am wrong. |

IA, very pleasantly, has started giving full details of its fleet and amenities onboard --- in Swagat. Aircraft detailed layouts start with the A300 down to the Do228. |
