Here is a oft-debated question. And there are fair share of supporters for all sides. But I thought I'd light the fire (its a done-to-death topic) in the A-nutters lounge.

So here goes. Which Indian city will emerge as the largest business generator by 2015?
Please note a few points
1) I would like to debate on the actual business realized- employment, comercial value, retail consumption, versatality of industries etc..all rolled in
2) I am not interested in the "Potential" per se- even Bhubaneshwar was thought of as having potential at one point!! Rolling Eyes

Let me give my 2Cs.. I think that Greater Mumbai will continue to dominate in terms of commercial value of the industries that are placed there, like Banks/Fin/Insurance or Conglomerates like Tata/Reliance etc..

But NCR will lead in terms of retail consumption.

But overall, I think the Greater Mumbai with the new SEZ integrated , will continue to lead.

My guess is that Bombay will keep the lead, Delhi and Bangalore will probably remain 2 and 3. Although 8 years is a long time, it's not long enough for a city like Bhubaneshwar to catch up- or come close. The present big cities will stay ahead- Madras, Hyderabad etc.
