Airbus has secured a commitment for its newest member of the A330/A340 Family – the A330-200F. US-based Intrepid Aviation Group signed a Letter of Intent for the purchase of 20 A330-200Fs, the newest freighter to join the Airbus fleet. First delivery to Intrepid is expected in early 2010. This is a few years before the A350XWB comes on line, demonstrating how successful the A330 platform has become.
Depending on mode selected, the A330F can carry up to 64 metric tons over 4,000 nautical miles or 69 metric tons up to 3,200 nautical miles - non-stop. These range and payload capabilities enable operators to grow their business by opening up or extending cargo routes they currently operate. Thanks to an optimized fuselage cross-section, the A330F has the interior flexibility to carry a wide variety of pallet and container sizes for maximum interlining capability, offering 30% more volume than any freighter in its class.
And so the gauntlet is thrown down again! Boeing does not have the freighter market to itself for long. We expect to hear of more orders for this freighter soon. Hello FedEx is it time to trade in those A310s and A300s? Intrepid handled the used A310s FedEx bought. There are, perhaps, close ties between Intrepid and FedEx. _________________

going purely by operational performance i would love to see this head to head against a competing freighter "in its class" and the 30% more claims being fulfilled.
anyways lets see.. _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

T7 is definately a better aircraft than the 330/340 no wonder compare the sales. But Airbus desperately needed a freighter to compete in the 777/767 freighters market. They just had A300/310/320 options for freighter. A380F is yet to be launched. So there can be some amount of competition to the 777. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld
