| The Reserve Bank is to shortly put in circulation new coins of Rs 2 to mark the platinum jubilee of the Indian Air Force. The face of the Farritic Stainless Steel Coin will signify the growth of the IAF from 1932 to 2007, symbolically represented through the depiction of the first fighter aircraft - Wapiti - and the latest multi-role combat aircraft - SU 30 MK I - in the centre. ‘‘Platinum Jubilee’’ will be inscribed in Hindi in the upper periphery of the coin and in English in the lower periphery. At the top, ‘‘1932-2007’’ will be inscribed and at the centre-left, ‘‘Indian Air Force’’ in English and ‘‘Bharatiya Vayu Sena’’ in Hindi will be inscribed, says an NDTV report. |
