The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) has noted that the trend for airlines in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions to modernise and see growth in their fleet has inspired an airline hunt for investors to assist in their plans.
Some recent government announcements of privatisation plans have uniformly pushed the airlines’ urgency to find fresh capital even further. CAPA released a list of carriers seeking fresh equity in the next 12-24 months.
“Investors have a lot of choice and not all the carriers listed above are attractive targets for reasons including a lack of business strength, rising competition and unfavourable investment environments,” said CAPA executive chairman Peter Harbison.
“Competition for fresh funds with therefore be intense in 2007.” _________________
