Delightful trip report Shukla Sir, with your characteristic humour.
An upgrade on points is perhaps the best way to get a guaranteed upgrade, as a coupon/voucher may involve a long wait for confirmation, and a brief visit to a lounge before boarding. However, one loses an option to get a free Economy ticket, unless one does not have enough points for the same, or the points are in danger of expiring.
A few points, Shukla Sir: the boarding passes are the ordinary Economy ones, and hardly a keepsake for you, just in case you wanted to even keep a picture of the same. (You would have had to return the boarding passes, as this was on official trip, I guess). The AGL breakfast was indeed a let-down in terms of the relative spread. Lovely photos, Sir!
A suggestion: please try an upgrade on a lunch flight. You may get the unique chapAtI! AI is the only airline that serves the same, albeit in J/F alone. All other airlines play it safe with the parAnThA.
As always, I admire your humour, `killing time', `space enough for people...', `attacked...', `which I wouldn't have let him touch'.
Wow, AI now has a dine-when-you-please option! That would be immaterial for a glutton like me. ``Bring it on, and let it flow,'' is my mantra.
Sir: that is a strawberry lassI Smile
That coffee doesn't look bad...how was it, Sir? The usual bland Nescafe, served with panache?
The second leg did not have an upgrade, I guess. Thank you for a wonderful TR Sir: I still seek an upgrade on AI's best J class product, on the B777s. This has always eluded me thus far: I have managed upgrades on the A332s (IWA/B), the Dream)liners, the A321 and A319s, but not on any other bird.
Hope however, runs eternal!
Cheers, Sumantra.

It was surprisingly good. However, i find the Economy class coffee better. I guess its brewed a lot longer than this one.

Thank you sir for the lovely feedback.
Cheers

Sir, Rooh Afza lassi is not quite nice Neutral I got confused since I was served a strawberry flavoured lassI once. A Mother Dairy branded one, poured into a nice Air India glass, and served.
Second, "instant coffee ain't." Nescafe Classic, in my not-so-humble opinion, isn't quite coffee, even if one keeps it in hot water a bit longer Smile
Cheers, Sumantra.

You could chose when you wanted lunch ... not bad on a BLR-CCU flight. Is that standard for AI domestic J?
Old and tattered aircraft yikes, but glad it was comfy. Thanks for the TR

Lovely TR ... main course could have been a tad larger in the portion.

Good to know you had a comfortable flight minus the washroom Razz

Thanks for sharing

Great TR, Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the Sushma Chawla (VT-SC*) A319s and the Praful Patel A321s (VT-PP*) are definitely moth-eaten and can do with some serious cabin maintenance. Have experienced them myself and heard from others too.

And they offered you a choice between veg and non-veg on a domestic flight? That's really nice. I thought they offered only veggie fare on domestic legs.
