United Airlines to deploy Boeing 777-300ER on Mumbai-New York/Newark route from October

July 10, 2018

United Airline today said it will operate its latest Boeing 777-300E aircraft to service its Mumbai and New York/Newark rout from October. The new wide-body plane, which features the all-new United Polaris business class seats, will replace the 777-200ER, which is currently being used to operate the route United Airlines said in a release.

The third largest US carrier after Delta an American Airlines, United Airlines currently flies once daily between Mumbai and New York/Newark. “We are excited to introduce the 777-300ER to our service between Mumbai and New York/Newark. I am confident our customers in India will appreciate our all-new United Polari business class seats on board this aircraft,” said Harvinder Singh, United Airlines’ country manager for India.

Great for business class but will be hard in 10-across economy! The old planes were 9 across in economy.

UA's way to push DL to ATL-BOM instead of JFK-BOM (me thinks). Also I think the 77W will get premium Econ soon (which is sorely needed on Us-India nonstops). The Indian diaspora, esp in the nYC area, can afford Premium Econ (meaning enough people to fill the 3/4 rows). I still can't believe they are up gauging BOM over DEL (given AI also flies EWR-BOM). Also UA's 77W have a TON of J class seats. Truly remarkable if they can fill it every day with paid seats (or maybe people might be able to actually get saver J awards on the flights again).

UA's J to BOM is always full.

Right on the mark - I travel NY-MAA several times a year and have switched to BA mainly because of the premium economy. Once you get to a certain age, 10 across economy does not work. LH also has a decent premium economy offering but is somehow priced a lot higher usually.

I am going to scratch this flight of my list EWR to BOM and back. Have been on this flight several times in UA economy plus. But once it becomes 10 across, no amount of leg room is going to matter. Until UA comes with a reasonable premium economy class, I would need to book away from this flight.
