I thought IGI was sufficient and had plenty of room to expand if needed. Why this new airport in Noida then?

Can anyone in the know shed some light?

a metro line from Noida and Greater Noida to IGI would have served the same purpose for less. Two airport create problem for airlines.

I hope this new airport is predominantly cargo as it both close to Yamuna Express way and Indian Railway's Eastern Freight Corridor.

They are saying that it will be capable of handling 30 - 50 million passengers a year, so it is clearly not a cargo-exclusive airport they have in mind.
