I have been travelling frequently on the AI A319 service between DXB and GOI and have noticed that the IFE has been switched off for quite some time. I asked the duty manager at GOI who mumbled something about non payment or some form of dispute on the licensing fees. However on my recent flight back to DXB, the moving map was on but nothing else! The inflight magazine though continues to give updated information on the movies available. The crew will only say "sorry sir, system not functioning today"!! Infact one set of cabin crew also used non functioning of the IFE as an excuse for the delayed flight from GOI to DXB a few weeks back, though the delay was due to runway closure in BLR..
Would any body have any information on the status of IFE. I think they have the Thales system on the 319/320/321 fleet? |

Thales 3000 on all but the first of the 43-aircraft order (SCG). Usually not switched on. Have been lucky to see the 6 video & 12 audio channels on AI 657 DEL-BOM-CJB on 23 Apr'16. Cost-cutting with regard to the content, some disputes as well, from what I know
Cheers, Sumantra. |
