Seems fair to kickstart one right now, India v Australia - all 4 test matches of it, is right around the corner.
Here are the schedules:
Fri Feb 22-Feb 26
1st Test - India v Australia
MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai
Sat Mar 2 - Wed Mar 6
2nd Test - India v Australia
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad
Thu Mar 14 - Mon Mar 18
3rd Test - India v Australia
Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh
Fri Mar 22 - Tue Mar 26
4th Test - India v Australia
Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
Both teams are equally rubbish, so it should make for a good series. Will probably catch Saturday at Chennai. Might get some good shots. Will post here if I do. _________________ Yeah. |

Thanks, you beat me to this.
Unfortunately I cannot watch the live telecast where I am, so will have to be content with ESPNCricinfo's ball-by-ball update. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Pretty good day's cricket yesterday I thought, here are a couple of shots from a few minutes ago.
Much friendlier than I expected.

Cheers, here's another of Clarke belting I shan't take a wicket Sharma:
Match is evenly poised at the moment. Sach will probably score his ton tomorrow but I won't be seeing it - back to Vellore and the telly for now. _________________ Yeah.

So SRT doesn't get his ton after all. Isn't that something like 500 million disappointed Indians?
I think the Aussies have adapted a lot better to Indian conditions than the English did. They aren't playing as badly as England did in Ahmedabad. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Australia are playing a lot worse, in fact. Their bowling is woeful - if Lyon is going to be their staple spinner going forward this series they're in big trouble.
My prediction for Australia for this entire season of 4 India tests, followed by back-to-back Ashes covering 5 England tests in England and then a reciprocal 5 England tests in Australia, is a 14-0 whitewash barring weather. They're that bad, with only Clarke capable of putting up a fight.
Nowhere in the league of England - they're truly going to reach the pits this calendar year and it'll show.
As for this test specifically, I think we've won it already. Just can't see any way the Aussies will bat out for a draw a day and a half. That's the best part, neither side can draw a game this series - all 4 will end in results and India can complete a 4-0.

Oh England were pretty pathetic in Ahmedabad too. Only Cook could put up a fight there and all our 4-0 whitewash pundits were jumping up in glee. They recovered only in Mumbai in the second test, thanks to the 19-wicket haul by Panesar and Swann, in addition to KP's 180 something.
But while I agree that Australia are far worse than they have been in a while, I wouldn't declare a 4-0 in favour of India just yet. In addition to Clarke, Moises Henriques and David Warner did put up a fight yesterday, and there's Shane Watson who can never be written off. Above all of this India's bowling attack, barring Ashwin, has not been great either.

Good win, aside from Henriques all proven performers scored runs and took wickets.
Hyderabad gets the next test and its second of the season - they'd also hosted New Zealand up front. Kanpur was to be the scheduled venue, but its facilities were under par (only ground to still be under control of a state association and not the BCCI), so it got swapped with Hyderabad as the opener, before a reschedule meant Chennai would be the first. _________________ Yeah. |

My word, is this Australia or Zimbabwe in disguise ??? Even Bangladesh are known to put up a better show!
Such cluelessness, and such appalling selection! That too from the Aussies of all people. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Tolja, 0-14 on the way barring the famous English weather.
And why draw a line there? Right after the home Ashes series, they've got 3 tests vs South Africa in South Africa, so make that 0-17. _________________ Yeah. |

Just checked the FTP, after that they've got a tour of Saeed Ajmal in the UAE.

Now Pattinson, Johnson, Watto and Khwaja have been suspended. Which means that their most threatening bowler in the series so far, their best reverse swinger and their second most experienced batsman in Indian conditions are out of the tour.
Seen some people shoot themselves in the foot but this has to take the cake and the biscuit! Mickey Arthur must be smoking some really good stuff! _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

I think Rahane is not in Dhoni's good books, which means his career won't take off as long as Dhoni remains the captain.
Unfortunately , as Dhoni won't go anywhere soon, it probably means that Rahane's international career is finished.
It also does not help that Rahane didn't do very well in the few ODI chances that he got, his First Class batting average of 62 notwithstanding.
Personally, I would give Rahane a go for the fourth test. The series is won, so some experimentation won't hurt. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Well done then, four zip.
Also loved the Pakistan-South Africa and New Zealand-England series running in parallel. The latter is a huge FAIL by England, who've proven that they can beat sides like Australia and India home and away, but crumble against Pakistan, West Indies and New Zealand on the side. They probably don't care against the lesser teams and are not as intensive against them. _________________ Yeah. |

The SA-Pak test series result was a foregone conclusion. No contesting the fact that SA are the no 1. None at all. However I like the fight the Pakis put up in the ODI series. It was far from a walkover for the Saffers there, and but for AB de Villiers, they probably would have lost it. Also liked the centuries by Asad Shafiq and Younis Khan in Cape Town. Excellent innings under pressure.
I don't agree that England was a big fail in NZ, as much as I believe that NZ have been up to their old pitch doctoring tricks again with inexperienced bowlers like Neil Wagner, Trent Boult and B.P.Martin picking up such a big haul. It looks very similar to what our guys faced there in 2002, when beginners Shane Bond, Darryl Tuffey and Jacob Oram had our Dravids, Gangulys, Laxmans and Tendulkars on the mat. Of course, NZ cricket only went down the toilet after that.
I just can't wait for the India tour of South Africa later on. It would be really interesting to see how our new kids on the block, Pujara, Dhawan and Vijay fare when faced with the likes of Steyn, Morkel and Philander on SA soil. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Pujara and Vijay have been there once (2010/11) and failed. With that low stance and backlift, I don't see how the former can succeed anywhere outside of India and Lanka, but he has time to change that.
Looking forward more to Kohli and his potential exploits, he's our best bet. _________________ Yeah. |

So now that the Indian Premier Match Fixing League is done with, more relevant tournaments can be focused upon. First up, there is the Champions Trophy starting June 6th in England.
My favourites to win this one are (in order) South Africa, England, and Pakistan. I would put everyone else in the same boat below these three. Would love it if the Windies can pull up a few surprises though. They've got a strong side with Gayle, Bravo, Pollard, Sammy and Sarwan, all very good.
I do not expect India to do well at all. No chance whatsoever on those swinging, seaming, bouncing English wickets after months of playing in dust bowls. The only chance we have is against the Pakistanis in Egbaston, which is known to be a flat one that can aid our spinners. But then there's Ajmal.....

I don't expect much from Indian batsmen on seaming English pitches. However, it would be nice to see Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling on those pitches. I wish Praveen was also a part of the team. |

You mean the same Pakistan who've barely scraped up a win against Ireland in 2 ODIs this past week? (1 tie and 1 narrow win thanks to the bowler Wahab Riaz coming up with a crucial 40-odd). Their batting line-up is brittle - Farhat, Hafeez, Malik and Kamran Akmal are tried and tested failures and ain't gonna scare anybody. Can't see them chasing anything upward of 220, or even that's pushing it.
We'll be fine. Kohli, Raina and Dhoni had a great ODI leg in that 2011 tour of England, not sure what to expect from Dhawan and Vijay, and I hope we don't play Jadeja. Kumar and Ashwin make our bowling line-up look okay too.
Realistically, England have the best chance should KP be fit and firing. Even South Africa are missing Smith and Kallis - though they're certified chokers so it might be all for the good. Australia like us have a few chinks in their line-up (Bailey, Hughes, Wade) but have proven performers in Watson, Warner and Clarke so it's a lottery with them too. Similar with Lanka - there's no quality ODI side around these days.
But let me go left field and say New Zealand will win! McCullum, Taylor, Williamson, Vettori, Southee and Boult is a very strong core they got in their line-up, they're not to be underestimated and they always do well in world tournaments anyway.
Who've I missed out on then? West Indies? Nah, the Pollards and Narines are good enough for the T20 stuff, can't see them picking up a 50-over tournament. Maybe if they can ride on Gayle's heroics for three games in a row, even then it would be a flukey win...
At least we're back to international cricket. _________________ Yeah. |

A series we lost 3-0 . If not for the rain gods, it would have probably been 5-0
The only consistent performer we had in that series was Dhoni with scores of 33, 6, 69, 78 and 50. That's 50 + in three out of five innings.
Raina managed 38, 40, 21, 84, 15 and Kohli 55, 9, 7, 16 and 107. Both flashes in the pan.
Not bad, but definitely not great IMO.

They have been choking a lot less ever since Kirsten started coaching them. I would still rate them as favourites, the absence of Smith and Kallis notwithstanding. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

True, but I am sure we can all agree that Kohli has matured as a batsman it the 2 years since that series. Alas, the same can't be said about Raina. |

Those are good one-day scores, especially overseas. Expecting anything more is just being unrealistic.
Our batting clearly wasn't the problem on that tour. Even the likes of Parthiv Patel smacked a few.

Kirsten's gone now, and they've got an interim coach. They did lose a series to New Zealand while he was there, at home too. And could only beat Pakistan 3-2, also at home. They're clearly not the best one-day side around. _________________ Yeah. |

So going by what you said in that thread, you do agree that South Africa are better than us after all.
Incidentally, did you notice who the most economical bowler in the match was? Ravindra Jadeja! Everyone else got hit all over the park!

Oh trust me, it's best to underplay your team on there. The biteback should you lose after making a lot of hoopla tends to get vicious, towards any nation's fan who indulges so. Normally it's them Pakistanis who get emotional after a win/loss and threads like these emerge (this one when they tied to Ireland last week):

But the general unspoken rule applies to everybody.

Regardless, I still don't want him anywhere near the team, and certainly not in England. Bits and pieces player, him. _________________ Yeah. |
