I just finally published a TR on Delhi Mumbai Air India Business Class on the A321. Look forward to your critique : http://boardingarea.com/blogs/livefromalounge/2013/06/13/something-new-flight-ai-657-del-bom-air-india-business/

AJ, thanks for yet another nice trip report! Nice, short and crisp, and the flow had the reader with you. I have never heard those magic three words (though my parents have!), and the quality and quantity of food simply beats most competition at heights of FL29 and above. The presentation true, leaves a lot to be desired, for the Business class. Further, there is no excuse for the crew being sullen and going about their motions (ouch, bad pun). I have seen better service in Economy, on an early morning flight - consider AI 851 for instance, DEL-PNQ, the first flight of the day from IGIA T3, domestic. The `road roller' bit on 9W had me in splits. For a person who is a very regular traveller on AI, I can attest to the above FL29 comment about AI food, and on the whole, a nice experience, in addition to a very good and flexible FFP. I have found it much easier to earn-and-burn points, it has very relaxed points lapsing rules, points get transferred very easily, and a lot can be done online. You may have a point about the slightly reduced number of points, but then, Jet traditionally had a bad fraction of miles for an el cheapo ticket for a very long time (they may not have so now - I didn't check), but wait - which airline in the world would give you enough points for a 2 hour DEL-BOM redemption flight for an el cheapo (`Excursion Class') India-US return ticket? (A longer BOM-YVR return ticket on Cathay only gave me enough One world points for a puny ORD-MSN return ticket, and mind you, the Cathay one was not an el cheapo one.) Which airline would have you start redeeming at a small points threshold? (AI traditionally have had this bar lower than all other airlines I knew of, even in the late 1990s and the early 2000s).
While I may not agree with many of your views, I love reading your reports - the descriptions, pictures, and the fun part thrown in. Keep it up!
Cheers, Sumantra.

That's a very nice TR ! Loved all of it. Thanks for sharing. THe breakfast looks fantastic. I am a big fan of Omlette in the air... somehow have never been able to make that so at home

This is some good stuff!
There surely aren't better words than 'You've been upgraded!'
The presentation of the meal is way off course for J class. I'm surprised they didn't offer you the meals on plates. Or is this flight too short for those types of service?
Interiors look neat and well kept.
I look forward to my second adventure into Delhi T3 in a month!
Regards
Jish

Lucky to have been upgraded - was that due to your status with AI or was it just a random Op-up?

The J seats seem pretty comfy for a domestic J - how would you compare them with 9W's domestic J seating?

Ah! Nice to see a review of AI 657 - The long running "Malabar Express"... This flight operates DEL-BOM-CJB-CCJ. I think this has been operating for more than a dozen years now. Turns around after a 45 min "biriyani break" at CCJ Very Happy

Random upgrade.
J seats look good, however, the PTVs are useless for me on AI since it is not AVOD, but better than 9W which does not have it at all. Jet Airways is leatherette on the new seats and I like that better. I scoff when I get a plane with the dark blue cloth upholstery seating there. Just personal preference I guess. Seat pitch is comfy on both.

Great TR,
The seats cool comfy enough but the presentation Rolling Eyes Food looked basic nothing special but they need to stop this plastic wrap rubbish.
