|

Lufthansa is planning a new narrowbody fleet of about 48 aircraft. Reports on BBC say that it is planning a mix of Embraers and Bombardiers.
Ethihad too is closely examining the A320 and the B737 family and start a new narrobody fleet. The airline is looking at 25 aircraft in single class to take on the competition and have quick turnaround flights within the Gulf region.
It has however said that the passengers cxan expect the same luxury of the main airline and this does not mean it is launching an LCC version of itself. |

This is the original item:
Germany’s Lufthansa said Tuesday it was ordering 45 new short-range airliners, splitting the order between Brazil-based Embraer and Bombardier of Canada.
Lufthansa did not disclose the value of the order, approved Tuesday by the airline’s supervisory board. The planes — 30 from the Embraer 190 family and 15 from Bombardier’s CRJ900 range — will be delivered from the end of 2008.
The Embraer planes carry 100 passengers, the Bombardier jets 90. The aircraft will be used on European regional routes.
and the note frm Embraer:
Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer SA confirmed on Tuesday it has entered into an agreement with Deutsche Lufthansa AG to supply 30 Embraer 190 jets, with delivery starting in 2009.
The contract is expected to be finalized in several weeks, Embraer said. Once sealed, the contract will supercede an existing agreement between Embraer and Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. for 15 Embraer 170s and 15 Embraer 195s, the company said. |
