Air Tanzania flights to Mumbai begin in September

June 26, 2018

Air Tanzania Company Limited is hopeful to begin its Mumbai, India flights in September should things go as planned. The airline will be unveiling its first cross-continent flight outside Africa, as it seeks for greener pastures and wider markets beyond Africa. The national flag carrier of Tanzania has been a key business partner in the aviation sector and has open business investment opportunities in the country.

The flag carrier hopes to fly three times a week to Mumbai once they acquire Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner in August, adding tally to its fleet for better operations. The national carrier is reviving itself by introducing a number of aircraft to combat the competition in Africa from fellow key players including Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines, while RwandAir proves to be another match in the air battle.

In 2014, Rwanda’s national carrier RwandAir beat Air Tanzania to Mumbai route causing a dispute between the two countries. Bilateral agreements had to be accorded to maintain the situation between the states. It was a distaste experience for countries that have been working together to keep the regional bloc alive and kicking, with business partnerships to strengthen their relationships.

Why isn't Africa on the radar of any of the Indian carriers?

Kenya Airways, Ethopian, Rwandair, Air Mauritius are all flying to India. Soon Air Tanzania will join the list.

Heck, even Rwandair seems to be doing well out of India.
